Delonte could be a starting 2 guard, and bring Ray off the bench.
Why?

I predicted going into the series West would do a good job on Wade, and he did. Unfortunately Wade was still knocking down shots.

I'd like to keep him around because when he is healthy he is a very good player. He may even be the one to move into the starting role. But I wouldn't throw too much money at him because of his injury history, especially long-term.

I would love a one year deal for West.

Because Ray at 36 will not be able to play the minutes of a starter. Delonte, still in his twenties, will.

Me too.  I think there is a good chance he's back.

I read this morning that Danny is thinking of bringing Pierce off the bench.  I like the idea of having interchangeable pieces at different positions, and having players who don't let their ego's demand that they start, or that they come off the bench.  I like players who are "capable" of doing either...and not getting confused as the their "role", but play what is best for the team and the circumstances.  Tough job for Doc to manage, though...Delonte playing starter minutes sometimes, and Rondo playing starter minutes sometimes should keep them both fresh, but involved.  Same for PP and JG.

Except Ray is quite useless playing with 4 other bench players.

What if one of those bench players is Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnet?

Delonte played very well during the playoff. Very positive. Deserves to be included in the roaster for 2011-12

Love Delonte, he'd be a 6th man of the year contendor if he could actually play the majority of a season

I don't mind bringing back Delonte West on the cheap, but I would like to see the Celtics sign a third-string point guard as insurance...not an undersized shooting guard who plays some point, but someone who has PG as his primary position.

Delonte is the ideal bench player: smart , talented and a warrior Only downside are all his injuries he seems to get for one reason or the other.  If he doesn't demand to much he's a lock/no-brainer to resign.
