I'm worrying about the Heat right now but the future of the Celtics is pretty darn exciting.

In 2k11, I went with the bench of the Celtics. I barely ran any plays as I spammed the give and go with Wafer and Jeff Green with insane results. I think if I got used to running the set plays with the bench, they'd be even more effective. If the Big Three renew their contract, the team will be off the hook at the one, two and three. Rondo, Von Wafer and Jeff Green are just crazy athletic. Delonte is really underrated in the game but that offsets his glass body.

I'm kinda curious as to what Pavlovic can bring to the table though as his Euro-brethren came through huge today. Hopefully, if all goes well, the coach of the Celtics in 2012 (who may or may not be Doc) will run a larger rotation since their bench is really, really talented.

The team is really running thin on the 4 and the 5 though after this year. They can probably squeeze another year out of J.O. (I personally quite like the guy) but he's really injury prone and he also said he might want to retire in Indiana. I don't like the idea of relying on KG and Baby at power forward and Krstic at the center. They'd be awesome backups and allow the Celtics to run a huge rotation.

Right now, if they are able to keep the Big Four, they'd still be looking at a very solid team. I've heard somebody say they're like the Spurs two or three years back but the Celtics have a better bench now. If all goes well, the Big Three would still start but Delonte, Von Wafer, Jeff Green, Baby and hopefully another PF will be having major minutes. They'd need a solid center and a decent PF that can share 10, 20 a game with KG and Baby. This is assuming that JG, Wafer and (to some extent) Avery improve.

If they lose I would try to trade for Chris Paul (pending him signing an extension of course). It would help make up for the punch that would be lost for an aging Big 3. CP3 can hang physically with anyone on the Heat and is a top tier shooting PG. Rondo is a top tier PG as well, however just his style I think won't be fully noticed without the Big 3 at the top of their games.

We are not going to get CP3

Bench?  What bench?  Jeff Green is a huge disappointment, but that said, I agree he hasn't been used properly.  I think a group of Rondo, Wafer and Green could play in uptempo style and create better shot opportunities that way.  Green would have to be re-signed (RFA at end of the season) and that looks pretty doubtful right now.

Pavlovic and Murphy were rentals I believe.

I see Baby finally being traded.

The big four are under contract for 2011-2012.

Given the significance of tonight's game, it's hard to speculate about the "future of the Celtics" today.

Thanks for the replies :D

I'm thinking now if the Big Three (knock on wood) can't win a ring this year for some strange reason, Danny could try and convince them to stay for a bit longer by baiting them with a second ring before retirement. They'd be (very good) role players though. They'd be like the Spurs core for years to come except, if Doc (or his replacement) coaches right, they'd be less injury prone as they'd carry much less minutes.

I feel kinda frustrated for Baby and JG (and maybe Krstic) since they're getting a lot of mouth on CelticsBlog. They're dealing with a lot. (Baby was injured earlier this season. He was playing so well before. (Although I do agree he could do with some more weight loss). JG and Krstic were learning pretty much everything on the fly. I think their growth will be exponential as they have more stable schedules during the playoffs.)

Anybody know a decent PFs and a solid center available for the amount of cap space if we lost the O'Neals and Murphy (and maybe Pavlovic and Krstic (but that'd mean we'll probably have to sign two centers...or more nightmare with BBD at the five))?

I hope JG gets re-signed. A core of Rondo, Von Wafer and JG is pretty darn amazing if it works.

Oh, and Avery Bradley! This kid will be like Derrick Rose if he continues. He won't direct traffic but he'll be a scoring PG who forces double teams and mismatches, giving other player good looks that way. Oh, but unlike the other scoring PGs in the league, he plays defense and he is being nurtured with multiple Hall of Famers.
