Not that it really matters now but...

#Heat forward James Jone's tech has been rescinded, but the foul he committed has been upgraded to a flagrant-1. And Jermaine's flagrant foul has been downgraded to a personal foul.

no word on the Wade foul? very very interesting

Why would there be anything about the Wade foul?  Just like JO's shouldn't have been a flagrant, Wade's wasn't even close to one.  This is the playoffs.  Guys will run into each other hard.

I am glad the league is recognizing it, they just need to remember to send the memo to Ed Malloy.

Thank you. I agree that Jo's pick shouldn't have been a flagrant, but just a foul.  To argue that Wade's foul on Pierce was worse and should clearly have been a flagrant while JO's shouldn't have been clearly shows a high degree of homerism in regards to the refereeing.

I certainly don't think Pierce warranted a tech for his "altercation" with Wade, but it did come right on the heels of his uncalled for head rub with James Jones.  If he walks away from the Jones play or even sells it better he may have drawn a flagrant against Jones, and stayed in the game.

Refereeing was not stellar, but it's tough to get everything right when games start to get a little "chippy."  To be honest, I thought that lack of composure undid us more than bad refereeing on those calls.

I thought the Wade foul was worse than Jones'

I don't even think you can compare the JO one to that.

He lowered his shoulder not even trying to get around the pick and if Pierce wasn't so big he would have LEVELED a smaller guy.

There is no doubt that if someone does that same thing in an upcoming game that it will be called accordingly.
Agree 100%.  As Doc mentioned in the post game, wade's foul as much more obvious.  It wasn't a basketball play and it was INTENTIONAL.  But if that's the way it is going to be, then we should be allowed to lower our shoulder, run full speed, and just level a guy.  He body blocked PP.

Unfortunately, the refs get too caught up in how a play looks.  Jones flops and gets a flagrant called in his favor.  PP is a man and doesn't.  Had that been Rondo, he might have ended up in the first row.

If we're going to start giving out flagrants for Wade on that, then the leagues going to be giving out a whole lot of flagrants fouls. What Wade did was a personal foul, nothing more.  Also, I think we need to stop saying he lowered his shoulder, he didn't lower his shoulder, he lead with his shoulder.  There's a big difference.  It was nothing more than a personal foul.
I understand where you are coming from.  The is the NBA, played by grown men, we don't want to put them in skirts, etc.  But in case you haven't noticed, the league has already started to consistently call these kinds of plays flagrant fouls. Anytime a guys is going to the basket and get;s body blocked (whether he falls or not), it is being called a flagrant.

I am just looking for consistency (and am echoing Doc, who considered this play worse that the Jones as well).

Take a look at the replay below and tell me wade doesn't lower the boom on PP.  Not only did he hit PP square in the chect, at full speed, he also followed through.  It was intentional and in hindsight a smart play from him.

But he shouldn't be allowed to get away with it because if you are giong to allow guys to try and run over others, it could get ugly.
