Okay I don't have this stat 100% accurate but in last years playoffs the Celtics never have a player lead the team in scoring in consecutive games. It was either in consecutive game or consecutive wins but either way I think that is a ridiculous stat. I believe we had 5 players (Pierce, Ray, KG, Rondo, and Baby) who led us in scoring during games and they switched off from game to game.

This year as everyone has seen in the Knicks series we had 4 games and 4 different players lead us in scoring.

I'm surprised this stat has not been brought up more. I know they set a playoff record with it last year and I just think it shows how strong our team is. We have so many weapons that can go off at any point. We might have a clear advantage with one guy one night and if you shut him down the next another will step up.

We'll see how this plays out in this next series but I see the same trend continuing. I think the Big 4 will all have their nights and let's see if even Baby or maybe Green can explode for a night or 2 as well. I know those 2 haven't shown much but they are more than capable of producing big numbers.

Interesting stat, indeed, it just shows how much this team really is a team in the pure sense of the word. And it also confirms that the team is like a wall with leaks : when you clog one, another one explodes and when you stop it it's time for another one, etc. It's exactly what's happening with our Big 4 in scoring, one of them is carrying the load after another.

Yep teamwork and unselfishness on offense at it's best. I think it was up to the finals. Pierce was our leading score in Game 6 ECF and Game 1 of the finals I believe. Ray was the leading scorer in Game 2 but for my emotional health I try not to think about anything that happened in that series after that game so I can't tell if the trend continued.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It's also because we have 4 legitimate scoring options.
When they target Pierce, we can kick it to Ray.
When they stay outside on Ray and Pierce, Rondo can penetrate or give it down low to KG who can shoot over everyone.
The great thing is Rondo is getting a serious groove with his jumpshot and it will open up the key for us even more as the playoffs develop.
No other team has a balance of scoring ability like us.
The heat have 3 players. The Lakers have 2 +Bynum (can't do much except dunk)

We have 4 guys who can take over a game offensively if the other team is pressuring another player.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Everyone's thinking it so I'm gonna say it, it's gonna be a lot harder to score on the 3rd best defense instead of the 29th.  I don't know if we're gonna have the freedom to get open like we did.  If they are focused on the Big 3 like they were in the last game we played them it's all up to Rondo to be able to consistently score.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

We did it last year against the top 2 defenses in the league..

No doubt Rondo is key but that is how it is in every series
