LOS ANGELES -- St. Monica High School sits near the corner of Lincoln Blvd. and Washington Ave. in Santa Monica, an intersection of potential and stardom. There is nothing inherently impressive about the St. Monica basketball gym -- "It's pretty small," said trainer Rob McClanaghan, "and a little grimy" -- except for the NBA players who walked through the doors last summer and kept coming back.......

Wouldn't mind Rondo going to that gym.  It is just speculation to me, but I speculate that Rondo doesn't put in the time that Rose or Westbrook do in the offseason.  I could be way off base, but it seems their progression has rapid and in a variety of areas.  Rondo improved a lot early, but has not become the all around player I had hoped for.

I would love for rondo to workout with his peers. It seems that he always likes to do his own things... sometimes resulting in him being left behind by his class. There's a lot you can learn from just being around other great guards on a daily basis.

He should have stuck with Team USA. Could have learned a lot.

Become Legendary.

He doesn't strike me as a hard worker. He has been more fortunate than Westbrook/Rose in terms of teammates (I mean he had the big 3 in his rookie year, all future hall of famers) yet he's already been overtaken by CP3, Westbrook, Rose, Deron Williams, and soon probably John Wall. Smh. Hope he proves me wrong in the playoffs.

None of those guys play into June like Rondo does...so yeah, of course they put in more time in the summer. I mean, obviously, we all want Rondo to improve a lot every year, but we have to keep in mind the fact that he also plays well into the summer. Rose and Westbrook stop playing in early May. Also, my impression is that Rondo puts in plenty of work. His jumper issue isn't that he can't shoot them...apparently he hits them in practice all the time. The issue is he doesn't shoot them often in games, which undoubtedly affects his shot.

I wouldn't be all that certain about Rondo playing much longer than Rose or Westbrook this year.

Last time the Wizards played the Celtics one of the announcers said that John Wall plans to work out with Rondo over the summer... Idk bout you guys but I'd rather have Rondo working with a D. Rose or a Chris Paul instead of Wall. Rondo needs to learn right now and develop HIS game, not try and teach some young punk that loves to "Dougie" more than play basketball

Um Rondo was never 'overtaken' by CP3 or DWill. He was trying to get on their level from the jump.

It's kind of crazy to me that people don't think Rondo is a hard worker or doesn't put in time to improve his game.

It's well known that he worked on his shooting with Mark Price all summer before the start of the 09-10 season. Then this past season, despite playing well into June, started training for the FIBA World Championships only a month/month and half later.

He's also put on a good 15-20 pounds of muscle since he's being drafted in 06'.

Just because some of his work may not being translating on the court doesn't mean he hasn't put in the time or effort off of it.

All that may be true...but Rondo needs to make like that famous scene from when Harry met Sally and order what Westbrook and Rose are having  :P

Exactly. Of all the things we hear about Rondo from past/current coaches (stubborness, cockiness), I've yet to hear anyone say anything negative about his work ethic or offseason work schedule. The only people who constantly question/berate him are on this board.

Rose is overrated and Westbrook is a shooting guard pretending like he's a point guard

The only point guard that is better than Rondo is Chris Paul

Rondo didn't have the big three his rookie year. He battled with Sebastian Telfair and Delonte West for minutes. Big Al Jefferson was still on the team, and Pearce missed a lot of the season with a foot injury. Remember the losing streak? Rondo lived through that.

Should Rondo work towards winning a championship or should he compete with Rose for MVP?  Rose is the number 1 offense for the Bulls.  Rondo is number 5.  Rondo's numbers are improved across the board with the exception of FT%.  Rondo is smaller than Rose, but rebounds better.  He defends way better.  He has more assists.  He shoots a higher percent from the field.  He is the reason why Allen, Pierce and KG are having career years.  He is the reason why Shaq is shooting a ridiculous 67% from the field.  Rondo had the toughest job after the trade.  Late in the season he has had to incorporate 7 new players into the offense.  That is half the team.  He also gets blamed for the pace, but I don't see anyone else running up the floor ahead of him either.
Despite his growth, he's still just a kid.  He's not supposed to carry this team on his back.  There is a price to play when you have a veteran team.  At the end of the season they will slow down.  It's happened to the Spurs, Mavs, Lakers and the Celtics.  There is a price to pay when you bring in new players.  It happened to New York, Miami and Orlando.  Why shouldn't it happen to us?
Playoffs are a different story.  A full week off.  Back to back practices.  No more excuses on the road to 18.
