This over romanticizing of Perkins and reconstruction of the past is getting out of control. Is there a good argument that we may need Perk come playoff time? Yes. However, this notion that we'd be kicking butt if Perk was here is patently unfounded.
Is it possible that we may have a slightly better record if Perk was here? Maybe. But as many have already pointed out, Perk missed the first half of the season when we're kicking butt. And even if you subscribe to the myth that "Perk gave us toughness from the sideline in street clothes" that some people are touting, Perk was very much here and part of the 27-27 skid last year where teams routinely pounded us (and Perk) into the ground.
So how people are now going to claim that this team would be so much tougher if Perk was here is beyond me. Did people forget last year?
And while I'm very disgusted by the play of this team and find it very, very hard to watch. I don't see why people want to rule out this team "flipping it on" in the postseason when they skidded even worse last year.
