Doc defended the trade partly, saying that in the 4th quarter of the 2008 Finals he used to put Posey at the 4 and Garnett at the 5 to spread the floor, and that he hadn’t been able to that kind of thing since then and would now be able to do so with Green on board. Have we seen that yet or much?

Why get hung up on who’s a 4 and who’s a 5?  Is the object to win games or stick to a lineup?
Because generally how players perform is a function of positions and lineups. So mechanically comparing a set of stats and concluding that Davis should play less and Green should play more is not a sound argument.

You are picking out one line of the original argument and ignoring everything else.  Good job.  Sadly, that still doesn’t make Glen Davis a 5.

There isn’t a single skill Davis brings to the table that trumps what Green can do.  Unless you count ‘being rotund’ as a skill.

to be honest and fair BBD can BOX OUT a little better
"when he wants to" not like when he plays Guardish
Last games this have been the very very very biggestish problem
Hes doing what he likes to do
and not what he is supposed to do
Once a CrotorNat always a CROTORNAT  2 times CB draft Champion 2009-2012

Nice to be back!

Sadly, it also doesn't make Green a 4. Or to be precise, it doesn't make him a better 4 than Glen Davis is, currently.

Davis is a better rebounder, defender, and pick setter than Green from the 4 position.

Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

I'm certainly always loathe to downgrade the pick-setting abilities I have on the floor.

That said, this team is struggling to get to 90 points the last several games, and Doc has an accomplished offensive player that he's leaving on the bench, particularly in crunch time when their offense disappeared against Memphis and Charlotte.

Green might have matchup problems from the 4 on defense or on the glass, but he creates matchup problems on the offensive end.  Can we at least all admit we would've rather seen him taking that late-game 3 against Memphis than Davis?

I like Davis.  He's an energy guy and he's made a lot of key plays over his career here.  But he's not a 35 minute-per-game guy...at least not on a team that fancies itself a title contender.

If this team was getting killed on the boards, or killed by penetration, than Davis is a guy that needs to be in there.  But again, they're losing because they can't score.

I think the celts need to close games with a lineup of Rondo/RA/PP/JG/KG more than using baby everytime in close games..

one of the things doc praised about getting jeff green was being able to play "small ball" but we havent seen too much of that lately..

although, I do think JG is better utilized at the 3. hes a great post up player and has a size advantage on most 3's
