For those that think your seeing the most out of Jeff Green

i agree with this thread.  Jeff Green is great.  He's got fringe allstar potential.  

He's still picking up our system and adapting to his role, but averaging 11 points in 23 minutes for the celts... 52% shooting.  44% from three.  He'll average 20+ some day when the big 3 are retired.

On another team, in all likelihood, unless Danny thinks he's good enough to use a good portion of our cap-space (which will probably be less after the new CBA) on him after the lockout next season.

I like Jeff Green quite a bit, but is he really that good?  Like, cornerstone good?  I'm not sure I'd have much confidence in a team on which he is the 3rd best player - and he'll probably want to be paid as if he's the 2nd best player (since he may very well be after the Big 3 retire).

Post Big-3, I think our best bet is probably just to tank for a year or two and get good draft picks.  A core of Rondo + whoever is willing to come to Boston in free agency to play with Rondo isn't going to win titles.  We'll need to acquire another superstar somehow and then probably draw in a third high level player because of the presence of Rondo and the superstar.

Cornerstone? ... no.  I see him more as a Danny Granger/Andre Iguodala level (I think he'll be on that level... not saying he'll have the same kind of game as either of those guys).   Fringe all-star who either will be the best player on a lotto team or a key part of a contender.  Btw... If Granger/Iggy were playing on Durant's team, I'd fully expect them to struggle playing PF too.   And along those same lines... I think if the Celtics had suddenly acquired a Danny Granger... I think 11 points in 23 minutes is about what we'd get from him if he were backing up Pierce in limited minutes.

I think Doc is limiting Green's minutes & opportunities so that we can sign him for cheaper in the off season.  This wouldn't be the first time that Danny & Doc did this.

That said, I'm in full agreement with this thread.  Its not so much that Green needs more playing time, its that he needs the ball more when he's in there.  At some point Green needs to stand up for himself and say "stop going to that terrible shooter Glen Davis.  Give me the ball and I can do better."  Heck, even Green's fadeaway jumper with the shot clock expiring went in and looked smooth.

Get Green the Ball.

at the expense of a title? no chance. i mean, even if they did this for the regular season, they obviously want to maximize their use of green in the postseason. if he balled then, it'd get him a bump in salary, anyway. and, again...i cannot fathom them sacrificing winning now for getting green a little cheaper later.

How can someone say that Jeff Green is better than he has shown?  He has never come close to shooting this well in his career.  His rebounding and everything else is exactly the same.

Obviously he can put up much bigger scoring numbers with more minutes, but he is playing better and more efficiently now than he ever has.

  His rebounds and assists aren't exactly the same, they're both down from where they've been in the past.
