But my point is that we see that exact same call all the time in regular NBA games. The ref who made that call wasn't doing anything different from other refs who call bogus fouls from the other side of the court hundreds of times during the regular season. Corruption doesn't enter into it.

Alltime Finals records are not seen "hundreds of times".
You do realize that someone has to have the all time finals record, do you not?
So was corruption the reason for the old record? The record before that?
And does it make sense to discredit all fouls drawn by a player because one of them is a bad call? There are also missed calls that they didn't get. That is the nature of basketball. There are blown calls.
