If anything this sounds like he is going to come back. The agent didn't deny it. He just said he "doesn't think thats the case". If Sheed does come out of retirement it wouldn't be until a later date. Why would his agent just come out and say "yeah he is going to play for the Celtics"?? Who knows if he will come back or not but this really doesn't sway things one way or another

And "for now anyway" at that.  Sounds to me like it is still a possibility.

I do not agree with some opinions, our goal is only to win the ring, we need every possible weapon to be champions, and Sheed would be a great fit to reinforce the defense in playoff.
Sheed brings spirit to the team, he is a warrior and that he transmit it to your team.
 Playoff Rotation:

  - Shaquille / JO(knees?) / Sheed
  - KG / Big Baby / Sheed

*Boston should pass to Perkins in February and signing for the minimum Sheed.
We need rebounds and experience, Sheed last year was our best defense against Howard and Gasol.

What is a viable rotation of the following players, assuming they're all healthy?

Perk
KG
JO
Shaq
Rasheed
BBD

I wouldn't let Semih Erden's potential prevent me from bringing in a player who could help, but would Rasheed help?  Or would he instead be taking minutes from a better player?

It's hard to say; I understand both sides of the argument here.

Rasheed wouldn't play ... he'd be a deep reserve. A 12th/13th man.

He'd only get on the court if there were multiple players in foul trouble or due to injuries.

I would infinitely believe Sheed's agent over steven.  Since steven said Sheed is coming back, you can bank on it not happening.

I dont know

remember

agents

10%

remember

If agents were either 10% right or 10% wrong it would be 10% more right or 90% more right than steven i smith has ever been.
steven i smith is a more unreliable source than a Bill Belichick injury report.

I honestly think Ainge might make a move only if he thinks he cant retain BBD after the season. I know BBD is going demand a lot this off-season and quite frankly we don't have the money to throw at him. Unless Danny feels different about the situation I think he may say hey lets get something while we can with BBD and maybe even Nate for a bacup SG so Delonte can play PG and bring in a young big man in that trade. Send the young big to the d-leauge and bring in Sheed. I honestly think something like that could happen. But if the roster stays the same I dont see Sheed coming back. I seem to be one of the few that actually wants Sheed on this team and have had a gut feeling since he retired that he would be coming back anyway.. But we shall see makes the trade deadline and everything much more interesting now!

And a trade  I would love to try and pull off would be Nate and BBD and a 1st or 2nd round pick for stephen jackson. Would be a great pickup.

That, or he could replace Baby who could be used in a trade for a Shane Battier-type 6th man.  I would say he's about the same as Davis depending on how much his game has deteriorated (although you can't lose length).  He's a better shooter, much better rebounder, better post defender, much better post scorer, can better help us vs. LA and Miami, and has more experience.

Baby's gone after this year anyway, might as well get some value for him while we can grab Sheed and keep a strong 5 man big rotation (all would be 7ft).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think it might be good for Sheed to come in and teach BBD, Semih, Luke, and Avery all about hard work, hustle, professionalism, and staying away from temptation.
