This is coming from the Redskin owned ESPN station.

What a complete mess and waste.  Everyone knew this relationship was going to end.  Why not trade him when you could even if you could only get a 4th or 5th round pick?  It is better then nothing.

The Redskins have too many holes and too many missing draft picks from trades to just cut players that could have brought back something, no matter how small.

Their season really can't get any worse, you might as well hold on to him until the off-season and then just trade him for a low draft pick.  Though the issue is, his stock is so low, I am not  sure how many teams would want to eat his contract.

Would you pick him up?   Not for this season but for the future.

I think he could be a good fit as a DE in the 3-4

He doesn't want to play in the 3-4.  He wants to be a DT in the 4-3.

Exactly.  He could be very good in the 3-4, but he's too lazy for that.  There were rumors that the Titans were interested in him a while back, but not sure if they still would be.

Contract question: His contract had a huge portion of guaranteed money, something around $40 mil.  If someone traded for him, does anyone know how much money they would have to actually pay him? Is that guaranteed money more like a signing bonus which is given to him upfront?

Right.  I thought it was just because he didn't want to do the dirty work required to be a NT in the 3-4.  Wouldn't DE be more of a compromise?

I'd have to check, but if we are talking about New England, I think New England has spent most of it's defensive time in the 4-2-6 sub package rather than the base 3-4. So while technically a 3 down lineman defense, I believe they at least frequently, if not the majority of the time, have 4 down lineman.

Now, the question about adding him, it really depends; I don't have his contract so I don't know what the yearly base is that a team grabbing him off of wavers would be responsible for. However, if he cleared wavers, it might be a nice mutually beneficial half-season rental where he can play in the 4-2-6 defense, really shine on a contending team, and grab a better FA contract at the end of the year than he would otherwise.

Having watched him a lot with the Titans, without a doubt Albert is best at his position.

Whether you want to stop the run or get pressure on the QB. There isn't another DT who can do what he does. 3 sacks in limited play is astronomical number for a DT. One O-lineman isn't enough to stop him, it takes 2 sometimes 3 O-lineman to contain him. Which is turn frees up pass rusher on the outside go one-on-one. His presence makes up for a lot of shortcoming on defense. When he left Tennessee, the whole defense came apart and got exposed. In his final year with the Titans, I think they had 3 secondary player go to the pro-bowl. Following his departure the same secondary was the worst passing secondary in the NFL. Without the pressure he provides inside, the secondary is asked to cover longer.

I'm not condoning his childish antics. But this is another situation where a head coach singles out a star player to deflect attention away from him. If he is in fact released, some playoff team will pick him up. And Albert will be extra motivated to proof Mike Shanahan wrong.

As you know, Giants have had interest in the past. Think there's any chance they make a play for him?

Yeah...that'll shut up the haters.

As a Die Hard Redskins Fan I know the Haynesworthless situation better than most. The guy came in talking about being Reggie White and Bruce Smith. He has been nothing but  a POS. He came in out of shape last year and had little to no impact. This year was the worst. He has destroyed the Free Agent possibilities for a lot of players. A lot of players will not see a lot of money they would have before Fatty!

The guy is a BUM! Good Riddance. He is the most selfish athlete I have ever seen. Who cares about the system?! Great players don't. Ray Lewis didn't. Reggie White didn't. London Fletcher hasn't. His guaranteed money is almost all paid for so the contract is reasonable now.

The Redskins made a huge mistake giving this guy a front loaded contract but what can you expect from a tool like Snyder. Patriot fans do not want this guy. You have Wilfork and Haynesworthless will not play the "okie" (3-4 DE). It has come to the point where the guy only plays when he wants.

He doesn't love football or the game, but rather what the game has provided for him - money. He is the worst kind of pro athlete and I can't wait until he is no longer a Redskin.

I doubt Shannahan cuts him though. He might but it isn't his style bc that is what Haynesworthless wants. He is trash. He signed a 100 million contract to be a member of the Redskins and help us win. Period. Not to play a 4-3. He has let his teammates down so much that it is unforgivable at this point. I don't hate people but I hate what he represents.

Not a chance.

The DT rotation has been so good this year that the 2nd round DT they took in this past draft with expectations to eventually start can't get on the field.  The added on the field play is not worth the locker room issues.
