The team has fallen out of playoff contention and dont look like they will ever be poised to regain it, Oden is a bust and Roy has fallen off the map as an impact player.

Its pretty obvious this team isnt going anywhere with a permanently hobbled Roy, no Oden, and a team that has stopped responding to their coach.

Should they try and unload Roy, Oden and Miller, then build around Aldrige?

I don't think they've quit on their coach.  I just don't think they're good enough anymore.

Had the dice fallen different, they could have been perennial contenders as long as they kept this core together.  Roy was a superstar, one of the top 10 players in the game.  Aldridge has developed into a solid second option, and Oden probably would have rivalled Dwight Howard as the best center in the league had he stayed healthy (he still could, if by some miracle he got healthy and stayed that way).

But yeah.  I their their run with this core is over.  It really is a shame how things turned out for them... Oden is a great guy, and Roy was one of my favorite players in the league.  I keep hoping that he'll get a second opinion or something and some doctor will be able to help him out, but I think that's just a pipe dream at this point.

It's been talked about at length prior to this thread

(slightly offtopic, but people really do need to start doing searches in the forums to see if the topic they want to discuss allready have been and if so, use that thread instead)

I think the consensus last time it was discussed was that you could not "just" blow it up like that, not that i remember why but im pretty sure that was the concensus
