This interview is a couple months old, but I haven't read about KG wanting to retire in Boston in two years.

jump to 10:42, KG hopes there's no lockout next year and says that.

I interpreted that as he wants to retire a Celtic, not necessarily that he wants to retire in two years (although it seems most likely).

I was just thinking about this the other night.  Mrs. Banners and I went to the game in Dallas ( :'(), and KG looked so, so good.  I didn't think I was looking at a player that would be retired after next season.

Limited minutes, possibly.  Off the bench, possibly.  20 minutes/night, possibly.  Retired?  I doubt it.

I agree, I think KG is one of those players that will be able to accept reduced minutes later on in his career and still be an animal while he's out there.

I hope those reduced minutes happen in Boston.

I don't know.  This is the guy who can't come to games when he's injured.  I don't know how he's going to take coming off the bench.

Still, will it come to that if he's still here past two years?  It'd be one thing if we signed a young, All Star quality power forward.  However, if his only competition is Baby, I see no reason to not to continue to start him, even if his minutes are diminished.

His ego and being able to accept a diminished role are key to his future anywhere. KG thrives and motivates himself with his intensity. A significant loss of relevancy to his team may be more than he can handle.

He will definitely do better on a team of serious veterans and intense youngsters that he can respect and identify with. I just dont see him on a club with a rebuilding bunch of 'mistake makers'. There isnt enough patience in him for that IMO.

May be nice for a change to see a player go out on top instead of watching his skills diminish.
do it

Maybe.  But KG and the Admiral about as close as it comes to polar opposites from a personality standpoint.  I'm not sure KG can sit back and let that happen.

However, Shaq may be setting a good precedent for him this year.
