In the hoopla leading up to the possible signing of Shaq, most of us are talking about how many minutes he'll get, will it be too many, or if he's too slow, or whether he'll fit chemistry wise, etc...
Here are my Top Ten positives about signing Shaq that maybe we've forgotten - because we're more focused on his age, weight, speed, etc...
10. He's the biggest body in the NBA; come playoff time, you need all the big bangers you can get.
9. He's a legit 7 footer who still rebounds the ball fairly well.
8. He's not too slow for "our team". He's actually perfect. Perkins didn't leave any skid marks on the court the last seven years.
7. Hard fouls. Very hard, physcial fouls. It will be very nice to be able to introduce Shaq to Dwight Howard when Howard's elbows start flying around come playoff time. Hoepfullly Shaq
6. He can still score and should be highly motivated to prevent Kobe ( and Wade and leBron for that matter ) from winning anything.
5. He's a very good passer for a big man. And he will have many, many options to pass to on thsi Celtics team.
4. He can foul Dwight Howard very hard.
3. He will bring a good happy go lucky attitude to the team. This team, between Shaq and Baby, will have all the laughs they need. This team will get really tight, really fast.
2. He can foul Dwight Howard, really hard. Ditto for LeBron, Wade and Kobe.
1. We get to put Shaq and baby on the floor at the same time...finally. That is 600 lbs of all american 100% USD certified angus beef. For comedic relief, we can also put the smallest guy in the league in there with them in Nate Robinson.
Thsi team will be alot of fun to watch.
If we want to go into samck down mode, we can put this lineup out there:
Shaq > 310 lbs
Baby > 290 lbs
Gody > 250 lbs
Pierce > 230 lbs
Nate > Just because if his build.
In all seriousness though, he's a good passer. If he can combine that with being willing to also play enforcer for us? Good signing.
