I would bet my life that Perk is faster than Shaq.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

How about we bet $1 million and we settle the bet with a footrace between the two sometime next week?

What could possibly make you think Shaq would win?  Have you seen him run recently?  Perk is actually somewhat in shape.  He's also 100 pounds lighter and 13 years younger.  I don't think Shaq could beat anyone in the NBA in a race.

How fast do you think Perk can run this soon after surgery?  There's a reason why I specified next week.

owned.

but back to the topic at hand, Kwame Brown is awful. and if Shaq comes to Boston, he becomes the C's best rebounder. i actually had the time to dig up some stats this time (as opposed to going by qualitative observation) and according to Hollinger's stats, as of 2009-2010, the Celtics' best rebounder was Perkins and he was 33rd in the league. meanwhile, Shaq was 31st. (Kwame Brown was 39th). that might not seem like such a huge disparity but keep in mind that Kwame's PER was 7.98 while Perk registered a 15.08 and Shaq, a 17.92 (keep in mind that league average is 15).

But i recently read a headline that said Shaq might be headed to Europe. Either way, i don't want to end up with Kwame Brown. he is pretty pathetic. i'd rather we sign Josh Boone or something.

Do you think Kwame Brown is so awful that if the Celtics signed him, there is a reasonable chance that Semih Erden will pass him up on the depth chart by December?

i haven't seen Semih play but judging from the other posters' reactions, and if we sign Kwame, i'd say our backup C spot will be craptastic. sign another FA center for the minimum. someone else has done a list of available FA centers. and, Shaq is the best of the bunch. i hope we get Shaq
