Marquis is the epitome of the “good at all, great at none” type of player. He can do everything at a good to above average level, but he’s really not great at anything.

He's the opposite of Tony Allen, TA was good on defense and TERRIBLE at everything else.

Yeah he's really not like TA at all. TA is an athletic defender who lacks BBIQ. Marquis is not very athletic but has great BBIQ. The only comparison I can see is they have terrible jumpshots.

TA was aggressive when the team needed him to be,something i have yet to see in Daniels...i will never forget him in a game in the playoffs where he was guarding Lebron on the perimeter, barely put a hand in his face.He put very little effort in trying to defend him.He didn't seem motivated to play basketball the way the Celtics needed him to be this past season regardless of his injuries.

Quise can dribble. TA cant. One year ago we tried to give TA away! TA was great this past post season but he was also in a contract year... Players always over perform in contract years.

I like this move. Last summer I thought he would be the steal of the offseason, and at times it looked like he could be, but between health, confidence, and minutes, it never panned out. I think he will be healthier, more confident, and get more minutes this season.

We still need another wing and big. Then we are set.

1) Daniels can't shoot
2) Rivers pulled him off the rotation in PO
3) Danny and Doc waited so long to re-sign him... Obviously he was our third or fourth option (and remember: we are talking about a player who played for us last season)

Lakers signed Blake and Barnes, they are too much better than us.  Danny is struggling this summer, he has a valuable contract to use, but we got nothing in exchange until now. Bench is a great problem: we don't have a SG or a Backup center for Jermaine O'Neal (i wonder if he can defend on Gasol like Wallace did in the finals).

I really don't like Danny's work... Rebuilding in 2012? Do you really like 2012 free agency class? Mmmmh...

I think Quis IS our shooting guard.  I think we're in the market for a forward than can shoot now.   I think Jermaine can defend Gasol decently actually. I don't think the roster is where it needs to be (to get out of the East let alone beat the Lakers) but I still think the opportunity is there to get it done.

My mistake, for sure, but i don't like a shooting guard who can't shoot.

I agree totally.  However my hope is Nate and a backup 3 who can will make that a nonissue.

All I've heard about Sheed's contract is that he must be bought out, he can't just file retirement papers and call it a day, unless he choses to be bought out for a buck (unlikely). So it's not a pure salary dump, for 12 million dollars sheed flys around and half asses for season or two, with an "injury". He's gonna make it worth his while to retire, that's a lot of money to give up.

I don't know where you are reading this stuff but I would love for you to actually give a link to it because I want to assure you it is complete bunk. I have read over Larry Coon's FAQ on the NBA Salary Cap and I have read the articles in the NBA CBA and nothing in either talks about retired players having to be bought out. He can simply opt to retire and file papers. It is then up to whatever team owns his rights to decide whether to accpt his retirement or not.

I agree for the most part, but we don't HAVE to sign anyone in 2012, we can wait a year and go after Dwight or something.
