Last year, Bosh held opposing PFs to a 12.3 PER, well under what an average player produces.

Can we stop with soft/coward stuff? It's nonsense.
I wouldn't pay any attention to 82games position numbers for Bosh and Bargnani.

That website don't have the correct matchups for either player ... not consistently enough for those numbers to mean anything.

For example, there is no way on god's green Earth that Chris Bosh only played 4.7% of his minutes matched up against power forwards defensively last season. That just didn't happen. Andrea Bargnani covered opponent centers more often than Bosh did when they were on the floor together.

-----------------------------------------

On another note, Chris Bosh did play solid defense for the Raptors last season.

Nothing special defensively ... just slightly above average.

So, you're basically saying that Bosh will look better in a Team Defensive setting vice how he looked in TOR? if I interpret you correctly, this is a possibility.

Pat Riley and Eric Spoelstra will be busy this summer. They'd better steal Boston's Defensive playbook.
Definitely ... The Raptors have held back Bosh's career for a couple of years now. The constant lack of defensive focus + lack of defensively talented teammates have been a huge hindrance to his development.

The defensive mentality/focus of Riley and Spoelstra + the defensive talents of players like Wade and LeBron (leadership of Bron defensively is important too) and bigs like Haslem and J.Anthony. It's going to be beautiful change for Bosh ... and he's going to blossom because of it.

Bosh is also going to play better defense in Miami because, like Pierce before KG + Ray arrived, he no longer has to shoulder such a large load offensively. He'll have more energy to expand defensively.

Do you think that maybe Bosh was another example of a good player on a bad team, and his numbers may be inflated? Calling him a coward is a bit out of line IMO, cause the guy clearly knows he's not a number 1 guy to build a team around--he can't do it himself, or with just one other guy. If you ask me, Bosh is not on the same level as LeBron & Wade. But he's a great third piece for a run at the title.

I do not dislike Chris Bosh, nor do I think he is a coward. I think he is vastly overrated among bigmen and PF in particular. My idea of a PF is a guy who is hardnosed enough to take on the opposing center for short stretches and still be athletic enough to run the floor.

Just my opinion, but to me he does not measure up with Gasol, Nowitski, Lamarcus Aldridge, KG, Tim Duncan, Amare, and a few others as far as these traits. I rank him in the second tier of excellent bigs (PF?) like David Lee, Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, Zach Randolph, David West, Okafor. Not to say they are not tough and hardnosed, just that they lack a little something to put them into the top group.

We can argue semantics about wether a guy played Center or PF last season, but in the case of most of these players, they usually end up playing both during the course of a game, dont they?

Bosh is twice the player LaMarcus Aldridge is and he rebounds far better than Amar'e. I've been saying for years on this blog that both Bosh and Bargnani needed not to be paired up with another face up big. I think you'll see improvement from the two of them this year.

Calling Bosh a far better rebounder would be a stretch. Neither guy is a rebounding machine or known for defense, but between Bosh and Amare, I take Amare nine times out of 10. Amare is much more of an impact player than Bosh. This offseasons free agency has inflated Bosh's value he's being seriously overrated. No way he's better than Amare.

He's easily better than Amar'e. Better rebounder, better overall defender, more versatile scorer, can create his own shot, better in the post. It's not even close.

Amare can create his own shot and is definitely a better scorer and post player than Bosh. He has no problem scoring or creating his own shot. He was a 20/10 player as a sophmore that was before Nash came in. The difference in rebounding you point to is neglible if there is one, they're both around the same place in that area. That's what my eyes tell me and just about every statistic I look at agrees(yes Bosh does always get the B VERY slight edge). As for defense they're both pretty bad sure you can give a slight edge to Bosh if you want, but bad is bad.

There only clear cut advantages are scoring for Amare and playmaking for Bosh. IMO, Amare is a much better scorer due to style of play and Bosh is a much better playmaker. Since they are bigmen I value Amare's inside scoring over Bosh's playmaking.

Bosh is far better than Amare.  If I could pick a 4 to start a team, it would probably be Bosh or Gasol.

Chris Bosh is not an MVP level player but he is an All-NBA level player.

Bosh is on that level below them (Wade, LeBron, Dwight) but is on the same tier alongside players like Deron Williams, Brandon Roy, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, (today's) Kevin Garnett and Yao Ming.
