The thing with Lebron is, the guy has been coddled since he was a freshman in high school...the attitude he gives off to me is that getting a ring is a "right" to him...not something he needs to earn. He doesnt have the fortitude to push a team to a title all by himself...so, he'll go play sidekick with dwayne wade and Chris bosh because its the "easiest way" to get a ring..

now, if you want to say that Bird or Jordan had good teams around them, they did! but keep in mind Jordan didnt win a ring for 7years...and their great teams were built through trades and drafts(Pippen was drafted..and molded into the allstar he became)...The Heat was put together...3 of the top players colluded "hey lets get together and we can dominate" how is that even the same situation??  luck and trades vs. collusion..

To truly be considered a great, you need to deal with the adversity and then lead your team through that and overcome it. I dont think they are wrong in saying that LBJ basically gave that up. its the "easiest" way out..

I dont think you'd see him get this much heat(no pun intended) had he gone to the Bulls(whom would contend this eyar with lebron)...its the fact that Lebron is basically saying hes not as good enough as one of the greatest so hes going to be Robin to dwayne wades Batman.

I don't get why people keep saying Lebron didn't have a good supporting cast - that Cavs team had the best NBA record 2 years in a row. That's not just hogwash.

IMO, during the Orlando series in 09, coaching failed them in the end. Mike Brown failed to make adjustments against Turkoglu and Lewis.

In 2010, LBJ's lack of killer instinct was a glaring reason why that team didn't win - that's always been a knock I've had on him. He's a great athlete and player, no question. But in the biggest games, there's just this lack of need from him to step on the other team's collective throats, so to speak. As much as I hate Kobe, he's got it. Wade has it, MJ had it. Honestly, if LBJ had that too, maybe they could've gone farther, we'll never know.

As far as the comments from Magic and MJ, they were asked a question, they answered honestly. I don't see a problem with it. I think during that era, there was more of a need for franchise players to be just that - franchise players. They had talented guys around them, but when it's all said and done, we knew how the man on those teams were.

Excellent point!

  • But I promise my heart will never leave Boston And
AGreed, Magic had a great team surrounding him. Larry the same. MJ had pippen and a god supporting cast with Rodman, Oakley, et al. The Celtics signed Pistol Pete much in the way the Lakers signed The Glove and The Mailman that year. This concept of star filled teams is nothing new.
