Wade took twice as many shots as O'Neal.  Beasley took 3 more shots a game than O'Neal and shot a lower percentage.  O'Neal only took two more shots a game than Udonis Haslem.  Yeah, what a huge ball hog.

I do agree about the injury prone part.  But I'd definitely go with Jermaine over Brad Miller.  Not over Shaq though.
Let's say its Shaq at full MLE or JO at 50% MLE, then what?

I think keeping the extra cash available for someone who might become available might make be worth more than Shaq - JO in perf.

Obviously my first choice wouldnt be to spend the entire MLE on Shaq, but if we can use Sheed's contract to pick up a solid backup wing that can spread the floor and maybe another end of the bench big, then I wouldnt be too upset with giving Shaq the full MLE as long as it's not over 2 years.

I dont have a problem with Jermaine coming here though, I'd just prefer Shaq if we're able to pull off what I previously mentioned.

I'd far prefer O'Neal to Brad Miller.

Let's say the Cs:

1) Re-sign Ray and Tony;

2) Use part of the MLE on JO, and part on guy like Ime Udoka;

3) Use Sheed's contract to trade for Mike Miller in a S&T -- he could be paid about 8mil this way.

What Cs fan wouldn't be satisfied with this?
I'm a fan although I think Udoka could be had for the Vet Min. How about we Sign JO and Shaq splitting the MLE? With the rest of your moves?

I was imagining JO requiring more than half. Udoka is for the sake of example -- think defensive minded 3.

I don't see any reason why Shaw and JO would both come and play in Boston, for half the MLE when the other is taking the other half. I'd rather have JO -- he can make free throws, even if it takes him 11 seconds or so....

They would both sign because that would allow them rest throughout the season.

I guess Udoka for a defensive 3 isn't that bad. I would rather have Outlaw for the rest of the MLE.

I'd prefer Shaq over JO - and as long as there isn't anything else to use the MLE on - I'd rather go full MLE on Shaq then a partial MLE on JO.

However I do think there will be a bunch of players available either later in the offseaon or during the regular season. So I think JO at half the MLE, probably means we can add a decent 8th* man during the season.

* I'm assuming an eventual healthy lineup, where if we sign JO for half MLE, then we trade Sheed for wing

Perk / JO
KG / Baby
Pierce / Wing
Allen / Allen +
Rondo / Nate +

* AB, Harangody, and Erden as the long bench
+ Ideally we keep both of these guys on one or two year contracts, their salaries might be needed for matching deal at some point

Jermaine will  be just as good if not better than Sheed. He was asked to do alot and rightfully so for that contract but off the bench for us, he will meet expectations. 8-10 points 6-9 boards, and 1-2 blocks. He is capable of playing with Perk, Baby, or KG. He's better than Miller in my opinion.

I agree.

You forgot Bradley. I believe he is going to be given every opportunity to play.

Love the JO idea... I bet we could split the MLE between him and a decent wing. Actually I have loved all these ideas (Shaq, Kwame, or JO) except for Brad Miller.

Overpaid and over-rated his whole career, but for a portion of the MLE? In a heartbeat. I've seen enough of him his whole career to think he was probably injured as had been rumored in the playoffs against us, especially since he had a decent enough year.

Looking at our competition, I have to think we'd be the lead if he wants a ring. Denver's not winning anything and the Mavs did squat in the playoffs despite looking good on paper.

On another front, I don't expect much if anything from Perk next season so maybe we go for Miller too.
