I'm starting to feel sorry for the Knicks if this really happens. At least the Bulls and the Nets have a young core in place that they could still build on with the second tier FAs.

This is what you get for tanking and making so much dependent on one summer.

LBJ and Wade are plus defenders, but bigs are simply more important in team defensive schemes.

I disagree with Wade being a good defender. He has the athletic ability and physical tools to be a lockdown defender and he'll occasionally make a highlight steal or block which makes you believe that he is. However, when you watch him play defense on a regular basis, especially off the ball, you'll see a player that takes horrible angles chasing a player through screens, doesn't fight through screens, gambles way too often, and gets beat off the dribble much more than you would expect from someone with his athletic ability.

Perhaps this was due to him having to shoulder the load offensively and he might improve that area with help. Regardless, until I see it on a consistent basis I'll refrain from considering a good defensive player.

He's not a good off the ball defender for his man, loses him too easy as he ball watches.

However he is a plus plus on ball defender, and he's also an exceptional help defender. Overall he's still a strong plus for his team on the defensive end.

Also yet another reason for us to try one more year with what we have.  Even if we do suck for a while and do get a ton of cap space, we still may have zero top picks and zero major free agents to show for it.

It's Official.  :-X Danny/Wyc-and-Company have got to keep the good bench/role players away from Miami at least these next couple years while we have a chance at the title. The Heat are a ridiculously young and top-heavy talented team and will get every call from the refs as usual for free FT's like the Lakers in the 4th of Game 7.
