For those who don't feel like opening the link:

"They could take Rasheed Wallace's contract that's going to be sitting on Boston's cap for the next two years. They could send Caron Butler and Erick Dampier's contract, which vanishes next season. The Celtics would be saving a lot of money and if they realize they can't keep Paul. And that's the only way it happens if they realize they can't keep Paul. That would be a plausible thing. Send him out of the conference and get something you were interested in at the trading deadline to being with."

No thanks.

doesn't make any sense, Sheed's contract won't be "sitting on Boston's cap for the next two years" once he retires. The guy is just spouting his fantasies

Presumably, we'd waive Dampier because of his non-guaranteed contract, making this proposed trade Caron Butler for Pierce.

Anyone here who would do that trade?  Anyone?  Anyone?

You mean waive Dampier so we don't have to pay 13 million?  Then what happens?  Can we waive him and then sign him for cheap?

Butler, Dampier, and a Dallas 1st round pick or other non-cap entity for Pierce......considering our bigs problem I'd have to think about that......but, as shown above, I don't understand the Dampier part....do we get him or not?

We're going to need to acquire more than one big....I'd go for 3 considering how few minutes I want KG to be obliged to play in order to win during the regular season, but how to do it while we jones for Mike Miller?  Something has to give.....

Perk, Dampier, Erden, KG, Baby, David Lee:  I guess that's enough to cover up Perk's absence and KG's quota and still hopefully win some games.....but barely.

I like the above post idea from Jsaad better, but again, I don't comprehend the trading Rasheed's contract part.....has it been discussed by legitimate sources as a serious go-to plan?

Sheed said on many occasions that "he doesn't do it for the money". ha ha ha. We'll see about that

He'll likely take a buy-out. About half his salary, and bounce. And live harmoniously in Portland.

Pierce would be a good fit for them.

If he insists on a max deal for 4 years, I am sure Dallas would pay.  Sign and trade him would be a good option in that case.

But who would we really want there?  Butler and Dampier are hardly building blocks.  We'd probably be better just clearing Paul (and Ray's) cap room and trying to sign a younger player.

Butler, Dampier and draft picks.

Look to move Dampier again by trade deadline.

Yes, that is better then nothing.

I guess it depends. If the knicks overpay for Ray and he bolts and Pierce feels he'd have a good shot in Dallas, it would mean rebuilding time for us. Caron Butler isn't an upgrade other than he's younger. Dampier wouldn't be a bad center in the East to swap in and out with Perk (when he returns), but I'd rather get something done for Brendan Haywood than either of those guys. If there was a way (and don't slaughter me cause I haven't checked the salaries) to get Brendan Haywood and Jason Terry, I'd totally do it.
i would too it would fix holes that we need but i still hope we can keep ray. for the price he's willing to take that would be a great pick up. and hopefully find another sf in free agency or some sign and trades.
