Kahn is copying Ainge's strategy of accumulating as many assets as possible. He has no regard for how they fit so long as he gets the best talent available. At a later stage, Kahn will try to mold those assets into a basketball team.
Whether that is a good plan or not ... that is what he is trying to do.
Makes perfect sense. Almost all of the talent in the league got in via the draft; the more picks, the more chances of acquiring some sort of asset. And who in their right mind is going to pack up and move to Minnesota to play a winter sport indoors? Nobody. The only way their getting talent is to either draft it or trade for it, and both require picks.
Sure does look nuts, though. I'd hate to be Rambis, trying to teach a team of youngins the triangle, and likely spouting off some zen crap recycled from Phil. Imagine the looks these kids are giving him in the locker room...
Minny, with tons of picks and cap space already, along with a couple of star players (love and Big Al, and possibly Flynn) SHOULD be making major moves this offseason, not acquiring assets.
