Would be happy with McHale, but I still think JVG would be a good choice to squeeze one or two more runs out of this veteran group.  I'd assume that with McHale (still pretty inexperienced as a coach), we'd effectively be starting the rebuilding process.

No.

I think he is a terrible coach that received the gift of Lebron.  (much like the front office)

Unless I missed something recent, I thought McHale has no desire to be a coach.  He was forced to be the interim coach in Minnesota, and it was clear he didn't want to do it.  He actually flat out said he didn't want to.

I know this is a much different environment that Minnesota, but I was under the impression he doesn't want to coach, period.  I've heard his name come up recently so I am wondering if he has changed his mind?

Your read is accurate. He didn't want to go behind the bench in Minnesota. But he did, and was rather successful until Big Al went down. Since then he has become very interested in coaching. Not sure what's changed. But he wants a job.

He was on WEEI last week and gave an evasive answer about whether he'd talked to Danny about the job, should Doc leave. Reading between the lines, he's very interested but didn't want to overstep his bounds.

Still hoping Doc comes back but I completely understand why he would see this as the place to call it quits.

agreed on his interest...best thing is to join the staff even if doc stays then take over when he's gone...get to know the system and the guys, work with the bigs, teach them some post-moves

Mike Brown is one of the worst coaches in the league IMO.
