Glen Davis all season long.

would agree. the celtics bench has been inconsistent and injured. no one guy has been consistently good off the bench.

but of that group, big baby has probably been the best. wallace has better numbers and has played more minutes, but his shooting and rebounding have not been consistent.

next year, it may be robinson.

is it possible for the thread creator to make a poll for this? that would be nice.
I don't know how  ???

This is a great question, and I don't think its very easy to give that answer.  But given that it is the "best" over the whole course of the season, sad to say I'd have to go with either Rasheed or Sheldon.

While I'm not happy with the consistency or effort of Rasheed, he has performed the best.  Conversely, Sheldon has performed EVERY time he's been called upon, and I don't think you can expect more from a bench player.

While I think Glen Davis has provided some definite hustle on the offensive boards, and taken some great charges, I can't pick him b/c he wasn't on the bench for the longest time (due to stupidity) and his actual statistical production is lack luster.

If i have to pick one guy, it's Marquise Daniels. I just like the way this guy plays. He always seems to make a difference with or without the stats.

I really like this bench from top to bottom, especially with the addition of Finley and Robinson. It's hard to pick just one guy. I feel pretty good about any combination of these guys out there. Other than being a little heavy on the turnovers, the energy and hustle has been refreshing. Nice to see Shelden Williams getting some minutes.

Honestly, I think this is kind of a bad topic at this point in the season.  Baby missed the first couple months, Daniels missed the next couple months, TA is now on the bench, and Finley and Nate have been here under a month.  It's very tough to say anything definitive about anyone other than Sheed at this point.

Still, if the gun was at my head, I'd go with Marquis.  Our glaring weakness last year was a reliable backup 2/3, and he's done a very nice job filling in there.

Agreed on all counts. Marquis was the guy, pre-trade deadline, that was generally the difference between the bench playing well + consistently and not. He was the glue guy.

I think Nate Robinson is likely to be the most valuable bench player from here on forward. I think Marquis' + TA's roles have been reduced and I don't think BBD or Shelden will get enough playing time to beat out Nate's explosive scoring. So it'll be between Nate + Sheed and given Sheed's performance to date I expect Nate to win that battle.

I assume "over the course of year" means this season, and I think it's way too early to make 6th Star votes. We have just acquired a couple of guys who could serve to be very instrumental in what remains of the regular season, so I think I'll hold off until April 15th to call this one. ;)

this wasn't done to be a pre 6th star vote, more that we the fans should look at bench as well to see they have had injuries & inconsistancy like the starters
I feel marquis has been the best bench player but in thinking about it rasheed could easily get "votes" at this point and he's been taking a beating in forums.  TA everyones bash guy has played well so far.  I just thought I'd get people thinking about the little things so we don't suddenly forget that davis looks good now but was bonehead injured at the beginning and is coming into his stride now.  Sheldon when get pt looked good , etc etc.
Our bench which I like hasn't had anyone player stick out above the rest, my "vote" daniels has been very good, injured, healthy again and a no factor and is hopefully getting back to very good this year.  In a few games I've like what finley brings, good jumper , smart player and he isn't just a wally like shooter.
So again this isn't 6th star voting just feelings up to this point, we all know rasheed is going to wake up and average off the bench 7 rbs and 10 pts on the low block in the playoffs, right?
