Not panic moves but make one before everyone notices our bench players suck. We need to trade these sorry players with expiring contracts with something that can help. I really don't think we can go into the post season and win with this team is to inconstant and injury prone.
They are not a bunch of rookies. Teams have scouting reports on these players.
So, there is a chance that nobody wants what the Celtics have to offer unless the Celtics really overpay.
Overpay or take back a big contract for a meh player.
I'm pretty sure at the deadline we'd be able to get a guy like Kirk Hinrich if we really wanted him.
Definite possibility, but not now.
Yeah the Bulls are trying to get talent back at the moment. I think they'll have to settle just to dumping him.
Yeah, but I don't think the C's will have any interest on taking that contract, much like most other teams.
Oh I agree, but a deal like that or overpay for a crappy player with a pick are Danny's only options at this point.
Unless one of the trade Ray scenarios actually comes together....
I think when the trade deadline gets closer, and more teams playoff aspirations fall apart, there will be possibilities to get players with more managable contracts, or even expiring contracts, if Danny can save them a few million, and maybe throw in the pick for good luck.
For example, if Milwaukee goes on a bit of a losing streak, and falls further back from the 8th seed, they could probably give up Ridnour for a couple expiring contracts and some cash (or if there are other bidders, throw in a pick).
Ultimately though, I think you are right, which is why I think Danny is waiting for buyouts, and will limit his trading to trying to get a team to take on Giddens for the rest of the season to save a little luxury tax.
