Who: No, I don't consider either of those players better than Rondo so I have no interest in either trade.

As I said in the previous post -- an established All-NBA caliber (top 15 player) player who is young enough to be a long term fixture.

So, that covers, what, maybe 10 players?

So

LeBron James
Kobe Bryant
Dirk Mowitski
Kevin Durant
Chris Paul
Dwayne Wade
Dwight Howard
Chris Bosh
Tim Duncan
Carmelo Anthony

One of these players, right

I don't see any one of those teams not having a pretty big laugh if Ainge called offering Rondo and someone else for one of those players unless that player is KG or Pierce

And that would never happen

Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

Still you get my point, I hope

In order to get a player like that, it's going to be a huge trade involving Rondo and either Pierce or KG heading out of town

That's the only way I see that working

Ray would be A big trading chip to some of these teams for his expiring contract. If you Package him and Scals expiring contract you got a little money for trade bait and if you added rondo to the mix you would get some talent back.

Rondo Ray Scal for Amre Lopez Barbosa and Frye. It works on trade machine. PHX would get expiring contracts and Rondo and would be able to go after say bosh. We could extend Amare and we get alot of young talent too.

I know this is probably unrealistic but I was just making a point.

Yes, pretty much, that's the list.

Brandon Roy and Deron Williams would be two others.

Not sure if I'd be willing to take back a player as old as Dirk, Duncan or Kobe. Then again, getting one of those players would go a long way to winning another title or two. So not ruling it out either.

I don't see any one of those teams not having a pretty big laugh if Ainge called offering Rondo and someone else for one of those players unless that player is KG or Pierce

Which brings us back to a point I made earlier -- that Rajon Rondo is a poor trading chip because he has more value as a player than he does on the market as a trade asset.

It's extremely difficult to upgrade Rajon Rondo in a trade and I don't think they'll have the opportunity to do so.

Thus, the Celtics are best off keeping Rondo.

For the sake of discussion, I'm not interested in moving Pierce at all. And I doubt Garnett has significant value at this point, given his injury history.

Anyone else I would take a look at moving in the right deal.

Anyone else.
I also agree with the above -- which rules out Garnett and Pierce too.

Leaving only Ray Allen and Kendrick Perkins as significant trade assets on the Celtics roster. Along with a couple of low priced expiring contracts and future draft picks.

And, if, the Celtics fail to find a trade for Ray Allen ... it's very difficult to see them having another option/chance of landing a marquee player in a trade prior to 2011-12 when Kevin Garnett's contract is set to expire.

Limited options once this (Ray Allen) opportunity passes.

Rondo is the building block for the future, the other one is Kendrick Perkins.

If we do this trade then we are downgrading at the PG position, downgrading at one big man position (Frye), and getting younger (but arguably not better) at the other big position.

If we are going to get the replacement for KG and it's an established superstar.. then we should get rid of KG in exchange for it.

And Robin Lopez sucks.
