It is preseason. Players like TA need to get minutes. If he can't get it going, he can ride the pine when the season starts.

Friday was not typical TA. It was an example of his worst, particularly on offense. The problem is we have seen his worst so many times that Friday was expected.

There are in fact times when he plays acceptably on offense. Perhaps as he gets back into shape, he will play better. I am happy to let him try to get his game back in the preseason since additional contributors will only help.

Tony will most likely never get it here...he's fallen so far behind that he really does need a fresh start with another team where he truly can be on the second unit. His confidence is just never going to come back in Boston. He has always been a solid defensive player and has shown flashes on offense, but if he is ever to be an effective NBA player, it won't be here. Getting a 2nd rounder may be questionable, but at least it opens up a roster spot.

The Tony hate threads are getting really old.  ::)

people will keep "hating" until either:

1.  he is not on the team anymore.
2.  he actually plays well, for a long period of time.

i think #1 is the most realistic.

My wish (related to Tony) is that he starts some preseason games, blow up, and some team decide they want him and are willing to offer up a backup PG that can earn a rotational spot on the Celtics.

And it is not a far fetched wish.  TA is capable of throwing up big numbers starting meaningless games.

And his contract being in the last year is very tradable.

So, I do want to see him play a lot in the preseason and I want him to play well.  A little trade value outside of his contract would be nice.
