69 personal fouls and 88 free throws for both teams combined. Ouch. Didn't actually watch the game, just browsed the box score and caught that out of the corner of my eye. Must have been a painfully slow game and hard to watch.

Apparently the refs were Tre Maddox, Deldre Carr, and CJ Washington.

Yea it's going to be bad with these replacement refs, and I don't think it's being talked about enough.  I posted in the other thread an article about what players thought of the replacement refs that were used in 1995.  They said it was horrible and 3 of these guys would equal 1 regular ref.  Prepare for a bizzare season IMO.

Here's a writeup on the refs' performance:  Link

From the quotes from players / coaches, it doesn't seem like they were that bad.

Quote from Boozer, in the article Roy linked:

Quote
The good thing about it also is we can talk to them. You could ask them, 'What did I do wrong?' They'll tell you what you did wrong and you move forward.''

What, you mean they didn't T you up for getting up in their business? ;-)

The first few games will have a lot of calls.  But if this lockout lasts (don't think it will) I think we'll see the players adjust to the game being called by the rules and the number of calls will go down.

I'm glad they're approachable. That was my biggest pet peeve with most of these other refs in the NBA. So hot headed they could light a cigar with their noses.

But, these guys are inexperienced and I'll wait a few weeks before coming down on them hard. Can't say I'm expecting the greatest season ever official wise.
