Last year I was disturbed, especially in the playoffs, with the idea that the Celtics were a team of dirty players.  The media/bloggers/commenters seemed to all get on the Celtic hating bandwagon and I was amazed by the amount of hatred towards numerous players in green.

This year I am ready for it, adding Sheed into the mix will make other teams and the media hate us even more.

Bring on the hatred, Im ready to embrace it this year!

There is big deifference between playing dirty and playing hard, do you really thinkour championship team was dirty?

I am all for the hatred towards us. It will just make it that much sweeter when we win it all.

People hate winners. That's all it is. KG has always talked trash and taunted opponents but people are only starting to take notice since we are winning. The media blowing it up doesn't help much either.
The celtics aren't "dirty". They credit their success to playing hard so that's the way they play every game. There is a HUGE difference between playing hard and playing dirty. I have not seen 1 celtics player make 1 malisious play or intentionaly try to hurt someone. Probably the worst thing that happened was Rondo whacking Brad Miller (who is a whole foot taller than Rondo, btw) in the mouth piece.

As a fan, i rather have my team be hated for playing hard then being hated because the star player is a rapist/jerk...Cough:Kobe:Cough.

I think it depends on what "dirty" means.  I think the team strategically played physical defense, which involved a lot of fouls (many which weren't called).  They committed hard fouls.  They picked up technical.  They trash-talked.  I do not think, though, that they attempted to injure other players, which is the one "dirty" area that shouldn't be tolerated.

The idea of watching KG, Sheed, Pierce, and Perk talking trash out there makes me giddy.  I can't think of anything more entertaining than watching that.

Not dirty in the sense of trying to hurt anybody, but dirty in the sense of deliberately making excessive contact and hoping not to get caught, yes.  I remember plenty of instances of House or Posey checking or pushing guys to the floor on rebounds, or Posey hacking or shoving guys well after the whistle.  Remember Perk throwing Maxiell down by his neck last year?  Heck, I enjoyed it, but if I was a fan of another team and saw the Celtics getting away with that stuff it would drive me nuts.

I seem to recall the Lakers putting 2 people in the hospital (Fernandez and Wallace) and Fisher throwing an extremely cheap shot on Scola....but the C's are the dirty ones...

Back in HS, I literally used to pull guys into me on rebounds and cry for handchecking fouls just so I might get one call when bringing the ball up the floor.

Was I dirty? I don't think so. I called it doing whatever I could to win without hurting anyone.  Some others might see it differently.

Now undercutting a man purposely on a dunk or elbowing him in the face/neck area...that's dirty in my book.  I've had that done to me a few times and I'm ashamed to say that I reacted and fights insued.

However, just playing physical and commiting ordinary hard fouls is not dirty.  Undercutting somebody in the air or hitting them in the face area is not acceptable under any circumstances (see the Lakers last year).

It's a general rule that the better a team is, the dirtier they play.  You don't hear much about the Grizzlies or Clippers making dirty plays.

And your example doesn't mean the Celtics don't ever play dirty; it means the Lakers are dirty too, possibly more so than the C's.  So are the Spurs, so are the Cavs, Magic, etc.  Every elite team gets in the dirt from time to time.  Doesn't make it right, but it's the way it is and has always been.
