Mark Bellhorn!

Man, he struck out a lot.  That's what I remember about him.

Yeah, I pretty much remember him as a waste for the regular season and then hitting two huge HRs in the playoffs (ALCS Game 7 & WS Game 1) and being like "Mark F'in Bellhorn coming up clutch?"

This is true.  I remember joking with my brother that he was capable of either striking out or hitting a home run.  Unfortunately he didn't do the latter nearly as much as the former.

There was still a big crowd of "you see! You all got on his case and now look at what he did!" after he hit those home runs.

To me, the evidence that things had changed and the curse was lifted was when A-Rod slapped the ball out of Arroyo's glove and the ball when skidding down the line.  I was shocked as the Sox seemed destined to blow yet another one.  But, the umpires REVERSED THE CALL!  Truly a new day!

Thanks Tek for making it all happen!

not to mention the bellhorn HR earlier in game 6. remember, he hit it out to left center in yankee stadium. it hit a guy in the front row, umps ruled it a double (even though there are umps in the playoffs who do nothing but patrol the outfield  :-\) then the reversed that call, got it right. 3 run hr, schilling pitched great, arod showed what a phony he was on that arroyo play (again, umps get it right), sox win game 7. so yes remember bellhorn for the strikeouts, but he HR'd in 3 straight playoff games, and the HR in G6 of the alcs and g1 of the world series were HUGE. the hr in g7 of the alcs was gravy, but i enjoyed it nonetheless.

as for the bill mueller game, i had plans to go out to dinner with my fiance (now wife) and mother. i forget what time we planned for, but i remember i tred to plan it where i could watch the game. we went out to dinner, i came out, turned on my car. i was shocked it was still going on (remember all the rain delays and the stories that red sox players demanded that the game be played). i heard a hit by trot nixon, then the bill mueller HR, and i went beserk. my fiance told me to calm down, that we were going to get in an accident, but i was just banging my steering wheel, going nuts. definitely a turning point.
