I dont understand why people are choosing to downplay the successes this year of both the Cavs and Lakers.
Both teams have fantastic balance, and the Cavs in particular, have impressed me very much.
People say that these teams - especially their 2 gun players - get preferential treatment. This perhaps could be the case with Kobe and Lebron, but in all honesty, i believe both teams would make the finals regardless of other teams injuries.
Us at full strength this year would still be no matchup for either team. Our bench play stinks, and this has been evident to many of us throughout the year. We would more than likely be beaten in 5-6 by both the Fakers and Crabs.
They do deserve credit and acknowledgment of fantastic play, and victory for either would be well-earned.
First, I don't think anyone is downplaying it. But what if it was the other way around? If instead of us missing Garnett and Powe, it was the Cavs missing, say, Mo Williams And Varejao? And luck has everything to do with that. Mo Williams is a player who before this season had only played more than 70 games once, and Garnett was a player who had only played less than 70 games once... And Garnett is a lot more important to us than Mo Williams to them. So yeah, luck has a lot to do with it.
Second, I really doubt that this celtics team at full strength would lose in 5 against the cavs. In all honesty, even at our current strength I would be disappointed if we didnt at least go 6 with them.
