Instead of doing this they would be better off just eliminating the first round. If a team is a higher seed the theory is they shouldn't have that tough a time with their first round opponent, a surplus of home games shouldn't be needed, and just makes things unfair.

They used to do this when there were six teams in the playoffs per conference (like the NFL does now)
