I would feel a lot worse today if we played real well and made it a close game and still came out with the loss. The Cav's pretty much could not have played any better and the Celts pretty much could not have played any worse. Rondo and Ray's worst games of the season by far (or at least pretty close). If Both of them had played great and we came up short it would have been a lot more disheartening. I would have preferred to win obviously but what difference would it have made if we lost by 2? If anything it would have just been more frustrating that we couldn't pull out a close one. The benefit of losing by such a wide margin is that you don't really need to over analyze it. They just need to play their game. They might be a little embarrassed about their performance but i don't think they are worried about playing them in the playoffs in the least bit.  Not to mention it was still basically just another REGULAR season game for us with little at stake.

Games like today happens once in awhile...just a little over a week ago the Magic stomped the Cavs, but they recovered from it,just as we  will recover from today's loss, for the playoffs.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I dunno, Im pretty sure I came within a hairs thickness of heaving up my lamb after Lebron's thunderous dunk in the third.

EDIT: By that I mean a loss like that leaves a lump in your stomach. Hopefully it just serves as a better motivational tool than Tony Robbins.

I'm not glad that our boys didn't even come to compete.  Why bother making the trip then?

I'd rather see it close. I don't mind losing a close game. Getting disemboweled is not cool.

Word. This is what I've been saying. Celts either should have sat on the bench all day or not bother playing at all.

The game was horrendous we know this already.  But I agree that this blowout could turn into a good thing.  The Cavs were childish out there whining and complaining, dancing around, etc.  I hope the Cavs feel as if they just locked in their Finals berth.  That couldnt be more perfect.  The underdog role is a thing of beauty you have the element of surprise.  They let this win get to their head and theyre in for a rude awakening if we see them in ECF.  One thing for certain Boston will learn from this game and take offense to the way the Cavs were showing off in front of them.  All this is going to lead it is a dogfight come playoff time and I hope the Cavs are ready to play with the big boys.

Thank you, Steve. All the silly rationalization on this board of a thoroughly inept, unacceptable performance from the defending champs is sickening.

There is no such thing as a meaningless loss, especially when you don't compete in a game. Championship teams show up to play EVERY night. One of them did yesterday, and it wasn't the defending champs.

TP to you.

Actually in an 82 game season, a future, current or past champ can absolutely have a bad performance like yesterdays and pack it in (not that im happy about it)...sorry man, but did you see the cavs lose to the magic by 40? also, maybe look up all the past champions and there worst losses, im pretty sure they all had nights like this, no im positive.

It was a pathetic performance that noone is proud of, but it doesnt mean a thing, it wasnt game 1 of the playoffs, weve already clinched, prove to me otherwise why this game meant anything.

Pathetic indeed.

At one point, I was seriously worried
we'd score like 55-60 points and lose
the game by 60. I kid you not.
