So HGH use is excused so long as the party is wearing your team's laundry?  Would anyone here object to the Sox signing Barry Bonds?

i gotta say that the two player's situations are completely different. byrd was implicated in using hgh and before it got out of hand, he came out and told the truth. that he used it, prescribed by a doctor, while he rehabbed a shoulder injury.

bonds has been indicted by the federal court for perjury relating to testimony in which he denied using steroids (not hgh, while he was probably on that too).

Byrd fessed up to using a drug that was given to him by doctor in order to get better. Bonds used steroids (and hgh) in order to break the biggest record in all of sports - and then he lied about it. i can't equate the two.

and to answer all questions, yes, i'm happy to see byrd in boston, and equally as happy to see bonds not in boston.

Buchholz is a gamer and will be a solid pitcher.  He's had one bad inning in most of his starts this year.  But when given the chance, has battled through and pitched well after the bad inning.  But he needs more seasoning.  The no-hitter was an aberration.  Buchholz isn't ready for prime time yet.  That's why the Byrd addition is a good move.

I hope you are right about him being a gamer.  He has worried me a bit with the way he has seemed to lose focus after making a mistake...but I do think it is just youth.  I agree that he just needs seasoning, and I think he also just needs to build his confidence back up.
