And remember, in West's two games against boston, he averaged 19 points, 5 assist, 4.5 rebounds and shot 64%  (60% from 3)

I agree that Delonte will be a tougher matchup against Rondo, because Bibby was pathetic in that series, although Delonte probably won't get the bail out calls Bibby got throughout the series.  And he also doesn't flop as much.

But in terms of those stats, Delonte played very well in the game with the Sonics, but if you remember the Cavs game, he didn't do anything until the last few minutes of garbage time, including a buzzer beating 3 pointer that Rondo goal-tended and Delonte pleaded with the officials to make sure it counted.  I lost some respect for the guy that game.  I realize he's in a contract year, but he never struck me as a stats guy.

when Delonte came into the league I constantly told anyone who would listen that he was a poor mans mike Bibby...   and Delonte gets better, and Bibby deteriorates...I'd call it a wash!  If I were the GM of a team, I'd have to think long and hard about who I'd take.  One because I'd say Bibby has a slight edge on the offensive end, while Delonte is a lot scrappier on the defensive end.  With that being said I think Rondo is better than both.

Well my vote goes to Bibby. He is far better player than Delonte is. Nontheless, because Hawks are history we need to focus on Delonte.

NF.

at there current stages, in what way is bibby better?

Defense: bibby is a sive delonte is no lock down defender but he's much better than bibby.

Outside shooting: bibby shoots 0.375, west shoots .370 this is a wash.

fg% Bibby .411, west .444 close to anther wash, with a slight edge to west.

T.O: bibby 2.48 west 1.73. Big edge to delonte.

Assists : this is the only catagory that bibby is better in. he gets 6 a game, delonte gets 4.1

bibby stats: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/mike_bibby/index.html?nav=page

delonte: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/delonte_west/index.html?nav=page

so in what way is bibby far better?

in fact, west is a better shooter, which considering lebron will be driving and kicking to him, makes him a better player for his team. Throw in the fact that bibby plays atrocious defense, and i don't see how west isn't the better player....bibby was better once, before his knees were 100 years old.

West is a better shooter based on his shooting percentage that you dubbed a wash?! How is it that we give Sam all this benefit of the doubt because of his career numbers, but don't give Bibby the same credit. Bibby has hit a lot of clutch shots in his career and is a more proven shooter than West is. I think you described it best when you labeled their shooting a wash.

Bibby is a better playmaker than Delonte is and can dribble with both hands. I would give the edge to Bibby at this moment due to his being a more pure PG.

Rondo is better than both already though overall and has a lot more upside. West is as good as he'll ever be. That isn't bad though...

i said wash because its .3 of a percent...and who mentioned sam in this thread? ??? I think delonte is a better spot up shooter than bibby, which will hurt us more than bibby with lebron.

You're misunderstanding my point. If you say their shooting numbers are a wash, and as someone pointed out you are only using Delonte's Cleveland numbers which is sketchy because Bibby beats him otherwise, then how do you turn around and say Delonte is a better shooter. Wouldn't the comment be that they are about the same shooting since you labeled it a wash?! If it is a wash, and Bibby's career numbers are a lot better than Delonte's, then Bibby would get the nod, not Delonte. Bibby has done it in big games. Delonte not so much.

Sam was mentioned because you have defended Sam's recent play in posts on and on because of his career numbers being more important than his numbers with the Celtics. That's a double standard if you don't give Bibby the same benefit of the doubt. It was just a comparison of your flipped arguments.

Man-to-man, Delonte is more of a threat than Bibby was.  He's a better shooter under the circumstances, and he plays much better defense.

That said, Rondo is still quick enough to get past him whenever he wants, and he won't have to worry about Josh Smith swatting all of his layups back in his face.  So Delonte is a tougher matchup, but I think Rondo will have an easier time with Cleveland overall.

If we are discussing Mike Bibby of past years its not a contest 8).  But at  this point in their careers I'd give the vote to DWest, who as someone pointed out is a combo guard off the bench.  Bibby at this point is a backup to a good pg.  Of course the mvp of the 1st round (imo) will outplay west but maybe not to the dominating effect he did w/ bibby.
I agree with you here, depends on what point of Bibby's career. If the OP meant at the present,i think it would be very close, but the edge going to D.West...also,i think it depends on what you consider what makes you a better player than the other also. Some of us are looking from a offensive contribution standpoint more, and some of us are looking at who plays better D.If you are looking at the overall better player, its close.

I was the OP, the present tense please.

Delonte's short career is no match to Bibby's who has had a strong career where for several years he was a borderline all-star and has had lots of clutch playoff moments.

What I was asking for was, what they're capable of now specific to their teams against the Celtics.

I voted Delonte, I think Delonte will cause the Celtics more problems in this coming series than Bibby in did in the first round. Better shooter, better penetrator, better scorer, better defender, better use of the basketball, lower turnovers, better decision maker.
Who,based on what i have seen from both recently,Delonte gets my vote also...he had a very good series aganist the Wizards.I guess i agree with you on this matter.I wasn't quite sure by reading others posts, what timeframe we were concentrating on.I hope D.West do not get the opportunities  as he did in the Wiz series.I think he caught the Wiz by surprise, wasn't prepared for him hitiing big shots,as he did.I think they overlooked it in their game prep.,but im sure we will be on him, like flies on honey.
