Dave McMeniman, who is now LeBum Whisperer No.1 with the demotion of Brian WinEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline., is going all out to hype up Bronny.

I feel for the kid, there's so much pressure and spotlight on him. His two preseason games have been:

vs Timberwolves - 16 mins, 2pts, 1-6 overall, 1 assist, 1 turnover, -12 +/-
vs Suns - 13 mins, 0 pts, 0-1 overall, 0 assists, 4 turnovers, -16 +/-
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

The media pushing lil lebron as some sort of legit NBA player is ridiculous. This is a PR move to not lose access to the team and it has come down from Lebrick himself.

Redick added that James could find a role as a "disruptive defender" in the league.

"He can do some things defensively at his size that are really unique, and I think can turn into a really disruptive defender. That manifested itself. On the offensive end, he's still figuring out who he is," said Redick.

I think that is a good and fair summation of Bronny. His physical characteristics and defensive talents are very interesting. He is a short guard but has great strength, length, quickness and leaping ability. He has the capacity to become a high level defensive player in this league.

His offense is a work in progress as Redick says.

Shams should send Woj a thank you letter.

Shams might have it more chill now because with Woj gone, who else is his real competition? Like even if Shams tweets out a major news item ten minutes after the fact, I doubt anyone else would have the scoop before him. Now he can relax a bit lol

Wendell Carter Jr. and the Orlando Magic have agreed to a three-year, $59 million contract extension.

In 55 games last season, Carter averaged 11.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 25.8 minutes.

$20mil a year for Carter Jr? Is that a fair deal? Overpay?

I feel a bit disappointed in his development. He has the talent to be a Horford-lite type player at center but still feels too much of a tweener. Not fully a PF or a C.

This GM Poll was mentioned in another thread, I thought I would tag it in this thread and make a few comments to get the discussion started:

https://www.nba.com/news/2024-25-nba-gm-survey

The first thing that caught my eye is they have Mazzulla as 3rd best motivator, 2nd best offensive scheme, and 4th best defensive scheme, but no votes for best overall coach.  Not sure how that works but he is tied or higher than Popovich in every category.  Who woulda thought.

For Tatum, 14 GMs had him as the best SF in the league and he also got 1 vote as the best PF, tied with Anthony Davis and Sabonis, all star PFs.  So Tatum is first team all NBA at SF and an all star at PF, that is pretty versatile.  People come at me when I say that I prefer Tatum at SF, that he would be better individually as a SF than a PF.  The GMs seem to agree with me.  Part of why I like Tatum so much, not a peep of complaint, whatever the team needs.  But he is playing his second best position (for at least half the game) because that is what is best for the team.

Several players got votes at multiple positions, Curry (PG/SG), Shai (PG/SG), Durant (SF/PF), but only Luka got votes at 3 positions (PG-#1, SG, SF).  In terms of versatility, Luka probably wins, the best PG and votes at 2 other positions, but Tatum, best SF and versatile enough to get a vote at PF is great.  I think Tatum's versatility and how valuable that versatility is to the team is undervalued in the MVP voting.
