Jalen Smith signed a 2 year / $9,573,828 contract with the Indiana Pacers,

Yeah, he was available back on Jul 1 but not now.  Signed for more than we could have offered after we used the MLE on Gallinari.  No biggie.

He’d have been a better fit than Gallo IMO. I wonder if we had an “understanding” with Pacers to lay off offering him MLE during our negotiations for Brogdon?

I think it’s more simple:  good teams didn’t trust Smith.  They pegged him as closer to what he showed with the Suns than the Pacers.

Who would you rather have on Celtics, Gallo or Smith?

Gallo.

Agreed

I don't think Gallo has played with this much talent and he's going to get some really wide open shots, and just him being on the court will open the lane up for Tatum and Brown pulling their bigs out. He's even big enough to play small ball big if the other team goes small. Theres a pic of him and the Joker and he looks as big if not bigger.

Yeah, this really should be an easy answer.  Smith had about two good weeks for Phoenix, then reverted back to the form that got him benched and his option not picked up.  The Suns picked up Biyombo off the street and immediately installed him over Smith.  That’s not someone who a contender should be using the MLE on when they need someone for the rotation.

Gallo is a big guy. He can play at center or PF.
