If we sweep, I suspect that the KD/KI partnership will put pressure on management to find a new coach. Just my hunch.
If the Celtics sweep, do Durant and Irving still have the power to pressure management?
A lot of people think Nash was handpicked by Durant/Irving to coach the team. That lack of offensive structure that becomes Durant/Irving ISO heavy is exactly wanted, as they think they don't even need a head coach and they see themselves as the coaches too (
and publicly stated this).
The team catered to them. They got the coach they wanted. Kyrie wouldn't get vaccinated to help the team,
Durant told Marks to trade Harden for Simmons, etc.
We let you call the shots, we did everything you wanted, yet we finished 7th and got swept (hopefully) in the first round.
If you're ownership/management, how much are you going to listen to those guys now? What's the worst that happens, Kyrie opts out? They can spend a lot less money, and have a lot fewer headaches, and get the same (or better) results. Same thing out in LA with the Lakers, as I doubt LeBron still has the power to call all the shots after losing in the first round then missing the playoffs entirely.
