If you put two centers on the 1st team, then the opposite should be okay on the other teams....no centers. The same holds true with other positions.

Gobert doesn't deserve an All-NBA nod so if 3rd team has no center, so be it. And Tatum and DeRozan are more 2nd team deserving than either Paul or Morant or Lebron. Move the PGs to 3rd team and have a no PG 2nd team.

I agree with this. No way they can conceivably put 2 full-time definite Centers on the same team. If that happens, then it should just be a ranking of the top 15 players this season (5 for each team). And Tatum is definitely in the top 10.

Basically this. If you're going to throw out positions then its a ranking of the MVP race, and Tatum's way up there.

Jokic has spent time on the floor with Boogie - who is the centre in that lineup? Or can you have two?

How valuable is Tatum?

On our just concluded road trip, our offensive rating was 138.5 when Tatum was on the floor.

When he was on the bench it was 89.

Games played need to count.  There’s no way Durant should be above Tatum on that basis alone.

The PPG, APG and RPG are almost a wash. Durant's efficiency is next level but Tatum's has been for two months as well.

But Tatum has played 50% more games than Durant, is a much better defender and has his team looking like a title contender.

That HAS to count for something and put Tatum ahead of Durant

50% more games played!!!! That is HUGE!!!

They should just have a games played cut-off for all of the end of season awards. You need to play 80+% of the games in a said season to be eligible for All-NBA, MVP, DPOY, 6th Man, etc.

You could lower the threshold for all-star game (which is more of a showcase) to 66+%.

That would negate a lot of the trickiest conundrums for voters and might help combat some of the most egregious abuse of "rest days".

Off the top of my head, I would go with:
1st Team:
G - Steph Curry
G - Luka Doncic
F - Jayson Tatum
F - Giannis Antetokoumpo
C - Joel Embiid

2nd Team:
G - Ja Morant
G - Devin Booker
F - Kevin Durant
F - LeBron James
C - Nikola Jokic

3rd Team:
G - Chris Paul
G - Donovan Mitchell
F - DeMar DeRozan
F - Jimmy Butler
C - KAT

Last Out:
G - Trae Young
F - Jrue Holiday (stretching positional designations)
C - Rudy Gobert

If Bill Walton can win the league MVP in a season he played 58 games in (he was also 1st Team All NBA and 1st Team All Defense), then Kevin Durant can make an All NBA Team with playing games somewhere in the mid-50's.  Now he certainly shouldn't be ahead of Tatum and as I've said I'd have a hard time voting for him at all, but if the

I agree with the statement above:  there should be a cutoff.  For instance, Durant doesn't currently qualify for the scoring title.  I think that's a good starting point:  for MVP, All-NBA, etc. a player should have to qualify for the scoring title (which, incidentally, is 58 games, I believe.)

I get the counter-argument:  the voters have all of that information at their disposal, and make their own decisions about how much weight to give it.  But, it can lead to some potentially funky results.

I would be totally cool going top 15 rather than basing it on position.  For the All Star game as well.

If Tatum doesn't make 2nd team I'm going to be pretty frustrated especially after what happened with Julius Randle last season.

Tatum deserves it over Lebron and KD, I think. Giving Lebron a pass on his team's abysmal record just because he's Lebron feels wrong.

I'm in favor of getting both Embiid and Jokic on the first team. What do positions even mean when both of those "centers" attempt 4 three-pointers a game and one of them leads their team in assists? Giannis also has to be ahead of Tatum. After that, is anyone in the league clearly better than Tatum? I could just as easily see him making the 1st team as a "guard" as him making the 3rd team. Crazy year.

At this point, I can't see him being left off the second team.  i hope they revise the criteria to be position-less.

If they’re going to bend the rules, hey should just make Jokic a PG so Tatum can be the 2nd forward.
