Another thought about Grant's game is his overall shooting percentages:

overall fg% - 49.5%
3pt fg% - 44.7%
FT% - 92.1%

I don't think the Celtics have had a 50-40-90 shooter since Bird.  Grant may do it this year.  I just wish Ime would get him more 3pt. shots/game than his current 3.4/game.  Players shooting more 3s/game than Grant are: Tatum at 8.4/game; Brown at 7.2/game; White at 5.0/game; Smart at 4.9/game; and Horford at 4.0/game.

Ime get him more 3 pt attempts and also for what it is worth get Payton more 3 pt shots.

We really ought to stop using FG%. In Bird's era, it actually said something about a player's shooting, simply because the number of 3-pointers was so small. Particularly for a player like Grant, it is downright deceptive.

He's shooting .582 on 2-pointers. That's the number to look at, not FG%.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

If he keeps improving, is he the player that takes Horford place in the starting lineup when Horford moves along.  (not this season and maybe not next season)
I don't think so.  a big part of what makes the Timelord/Al combo work on defense is they can both be backline defenders.  GWill doesn't have the height to be the shotblocker that discourages drives to the basket or cleans up the D when someone gets past the perimeter D.

Since I doubt they will find a Horford clone, the Celtics may just have to adjust with a new PF.

And with the exception to a player like Embiid, Grant seems to hold up defensively.

That recovery block on Jokic the other night was really incredible. Effort and positioning. Great stuff.
