This is the beauty of having a deep bench. Neismith and Langford should be regulars on the 2nd team. If one of them is off, then JRich could come in. If we need a scoring lift, there’s Jabari. After the Miami game, I hope Ime realizes that yes, we have options on the bench. He doesn’t need to give extended minutes to GWill if he’s having a bad game. I’d also like to see him give Kanter a chance. He may be bad defensively but he was still a double double machine for Portland last year. And then we have PP who was magnificent during the pre season…he can surely help with his outside sniping.

Best 3 and 5 team I've Even seen. Ime was just playing possum with those garbage teams we lost to. This is how we are. We give up about 60 points through three quarters.

Great win. In all seriousness does anyone think it's a good idea to stagger Brown and Tatum.  Let Tatum and Brown run by themselves for several minutes as a solo star.

Obviously try to keep one of the stars on the court at all time. Start the game and finish the game with both studs. In the middle let them do there own thing and lead the team.

I don’t think there should be any point of the game where one of Horford, Brown OR Tatum are not in the game. Unless it’s garbage time that is...

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Another reason why there’s no such thing as a ’second unit’.

And, food for thought: the wise and venerable Don Nelson once said, “There’s no such thing as garbage time in the NBA.”
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Nesmith has performed well one game, while I want to see this continue, he has to show that he can do this on consistent basis

I'm a bit worried about the minutes Ime is playing Al though. He's looked old and labored these last few games.

Need more consistency. But I felt like they are really getting a hang of it this time.

Many Celts fans were saying the exact same thing after the two early wins vs the Rockets and Hornets.

I don't trust this bunch yet, players and coach included. The problems this season have been long-term issues with this group, mostly due to a lack of mental toughness, an inability to stay focused and play the right way over several games and the absence of hard-core competitiveness from our stars and the team as a whole. This group seems to, more often than not, play for themselves individually more than for their teammates or the proud Celtics franchise they are a member of.

This has been their flaw for a few years now...they switch off at key moments and let the game slip away from them. There have been a few losses where we were genuinely outclassed for the whole game but at least 8 of our losses have been where we lost some key moments, poor offense affected defense and things snowballed* (should be trademarked by Ime for all the times he says it) and then everything unravelled. On at least 6 of those occasions we fought back and were in position to win the game but couldn't get over the final hurdle. It speaks less of a talent gap (though shooting 30% on most of those losses doesn't speak much to their shooting talent) than to a mental gap.
