The one who deserved it won it. I liked that Embiid didn't get many 1st votes, he missed too many games. Curry was unreal in the 2nd half of the season in particular, so he did a great push to get into the discussion. I thought Luka and Giannis were overlooked in favor of giving Paul too much credit for the Suns' success.

But in all, not much to complain about with the results this year.

Well deserved, and I believe the lowest drafted player to ever win MVP. Never judge a book by its cover, or a player by their muscle tone or lack thereof.

A record Yam will some day break!

IT came pretty close to shattering that record in his prime. Last pick of the draft.

When all is said and done, imo Jokic will be considered a top 6 Center of all time (barring injuries). Possibly even higher than that, but he'd have to win at least 1 ring first. Not an easy thing to do, especially since he's playing for a small market team.

Don't like the fact that Jokic is in score-first mode in the postseason. I get that they miss Murray, but I'd still use Jokic as a facilitator. I mean, they got a legit scoring threat in Porter Jr. Prior to the Murray injury, the Nuggets were my dark horse to win it all this season.
He can force an extend and trade to the Celtics in the '23 offseason 8)

Jokic and Kemba hit free agency in 2023. If we plan ahead, we can create enough cap space to go after Jokic via free agency that summer.

Jokic, Tatum and Brown would take the league by storm! A man can dream.  8)

That would be the most incredible (and likeable) of incredible trios!

Jokic might want the supermax money, so we should also plan for getting him via an extend and trade ala Garnett in '08.

Might want?  Has anyone turned down supermax money?  A player who signs a supermax contract can't be traded in the 1st year.

And he'd still be leaving money on the table because, as far as I'm aware*, extend-and-trade deals can only run to three years  including the current year of the deal when the trade commences.

*This was one of the changes that went into effect after the 2011 CBA negotiations (mostly because of Carmelo Anthony's trade from Denver to New York, if memory serves). But I'm not sure if it's still in place since that happened 10 years ago.

Garnett was under contract for one more season in 2008, hence he was eligible for extension. Jokic will be a free agent in 2023. Only trade we could theoretically do would be a sign and trade. Don't see why the Nuggets would be willing to help us unless Jokic forces his way to Boston (which seems rather unlikely tbh).
