Watching the Suns and Celtics yesterday there seemed to be one player working his ass off on defense for the Celtics.  He looked to be working harder than any other Celtics.  I'm not sure it wouldn't benefit the Celtics to have him pick up full court. Take time off the 24 second clock and make the other point guard work.  Maybe he will wind up the starter on this team.

No reliable guards to provide "boost" off the bench

Thats why even Waters has started. When Pritchard should have.

Lack of depth

Way premature for this talk.  We've had man a player look good early or in back up minutes, only to fall flat on their face or regress with more time on the floor.

Or you get 29 other teams dissecting his game and figuring out ways to prevent him from doing what he's comfortable doing - then it becomes a question of whether he can adjust.  He may well be a terrific NBA player but he's played only 20 games - not even long enough to hit the 'rookie wall'.

Problem is because the rest of the roster is so poor he's being expected to do a lot more than anyone figured he'd be up to doing in his first season.

The biggest reason not to start Pritchard is that you have Kemba starting. You're not going to bench Kemba.

I agree, but PP should be playing 30 mpg not 22.  Also he should be integrated more into the offense.  The majority of his time on the floor is passing the ball to someone else.  At times he seems hesitant to shoot, not because he can't make the shot but because he probably was told to hold back and focus on defense.

Yeah I think Payton’s gonna be our starting pg for a long time. Idk if it’s gonna happen this year. But sooner than later.

I think that two things may have to happen in order for Pritchard to become a starter.

1) Kemba's erratic play continues.

2) We acquire a third scorer like Collins, Barnes, or Hield so that Payton becomes a distributor of the ball to the three scorers and mostly shoots open threes off of double teams. Put as little pressure on him as possible to create his own shot.
