This post is motivated by two developments / “facts”:
-There is a growing number of European and African players and other continents of course in the NBA.
-it’s a consensus that American players preferences are: 1.) LA 2.) Miami 3.) NYC
Ok which cities do the foreign players prefer to live in??
I tend to think that international players love Toronto ... great city .. basically a global city with everything that London and NYC have to offer. Ibaka , gasol and siakam loved it there and won a title (even kawhi liked it)
I think Boston is number 2 slightly edging NYC and Miami ...
The relative closeness and “cleanliness” and history of Boston have many people say it’s the most European city in USA ... that’s to be debated.
Baynes , theis (even yabu lol) loved living in the city...
I know that nyc draws a lot of European Jews , Latin America immigrants and people from all over the world but still think that Boston is a bigger draw for foreign born players.
Could we use this to attract the best foreign born players ... and you know who I’m talking about in particular...
Other targets:
Gallinari- if you limit his minutes and he stays healthy he can produce at the superstar level.
7-8 years from now the obvious target would be Doncic...
what can be done by Danny and his team to deliver the message to the above targets and make them want to choose Boston in free agency or only agree to extend with us if we trade for them??
