I don't know if it was posted here, but I just saw some news about a Celtics assistant coach being sentenced to 4 years of probation + fine for receiving bribes regarding scholarships.

I'm from Brazil, so sometimes it's difficult to understand context of  news regarding the United States. Is this serious? Is this a surprise or people already knew about it? Is he a important figure of the staff?

It's been a pretty big scandal the past few months.  Lots of prominent names involved.

In terms of seriousness, I guess it depends how much you really care about "pay to play" and parents using influence/money to essentially get their children into a school of their choosing.

It's not that serious and I don't think most people are surprised to find out that this sort of thing is going on. The system is broken, and this is just one of the symptoms. He is an assistant coach, but I don't see this as a problem for the team.

His involvement came to light about a year ago.  The team obviously did not consider it serious enough to fire him.

Thanks for the explaining guys, I was just wondering about the implications on the Celtics, but since you are saying he will not be fired about that, it's all cool.

Since I'm from Brazil, I'm familiar with bribery and corruption cases, so it's not news for me and I'm not surprised about that. It's been happening here since the colonization started in 1500. Haha

I was just concerned about the general perception of the Celtics franchise regarding this issue
