I was wrong about:
- Hayward --> thought he'd look really good almost from the get go.  not necessarily back to his old self but at least be a really solid starter with some old-Hayward flashes.
- C's record --> thought they'd runaway from the East and have an offense that rivaled GSW.
- Tatum/Brown/Rozier --> thought they'd see a numbers dip with Kyrie and Hayward back but that they'd look much better when they were on the court and show less holes in their games.
- Williams --> didn't think he'd see any court time and when he did he'd look like a rookie taken late in the first round

non-Celtic things:
- Kings - thought they'd be a lot worse than they are.  not worst in the league bad but in the 3-7 range anyway.
- Washington - thought they'd be better.  a lot better.  they're a mess.
- Memphis - knew they'd be well out of the bottom 8 but didn't see them making the playoffs.  they're doing pretty well right now.

I think your point was that Danny has been sitting on his hands for 2 years not making roster moves, and Pho shared a roster from 2 years ago that has been almost completely turned over.  Left between the lines is the near obvious conclusion that the roster of 2 years ago is far worse than today’s.  If you don’t see the improvement, that’s fine, but I think many would disagree.

That's an interesting arguement, but I hadn't actually thought about it until you pointed it out.

The 2016-2017 Celtics were actually really good, they went 53-29, finished first in the Eastern Conference, and lost in the Eastern conference Finals after their best player went down with an injury.

It's entirely possible that team will end up being better than this years team.

But I was actually very specific when I said I thought Danny Ainge would have traded his stockpiled assets for a superstar guard/forward to pair with Kyrie if one became available.  This is hardly controversial - if you go back and read posts from that time most of the blog thought for sure we would end up with Butler or Paul George.

i will give you that i wish we had george. I am not sold on butler. I think he is not going to age well and he seems to have attitude problems.

I never in a million years thought the guy who blew up a championship team for Jeff Green would sit on his hands for two years while superstar after superstar were moved for paltry sums.

Yeah ...

This is the Celts roster from two years ago:

Avery Bradley
7   Jaylen Brown
99   Jae Crowder
30   Gerald Green
42   Al Horford   C
9   Demetrius Jackson
8   Jonas Jerebko
90   Amir Johnson
55   Jordan Mickey
41   Kelly Olynyk
12   Terry Rozier
36   Marcus Smart
4   Isaiah Thomas
13   James Young
44   Tyler Zeller

Yeah... And they'll have the same number of guys playing in the all-star game this year as they had that year...

Thanks for reiterating my point for me.

Not sure if this is serious or a comedy bit?

He is actually serious, which is what makes it funny.

Its pretty hard for a team to get 3-4 all-stars. Your team has to be very very good and the usage has to be top heavy for that to happen. That's very hard for a deep team. Even the Spurs with all their titles and conference titles didn't always have 3 all-stars.

I thought we were gonna be healthy for once. We had never been healthy ever since we fired Lucky the Leprechaun in 2009.

Yup...its 2018 now and every year there is always 1 or 2 core or starting caliber player we lose to injury ranging from Shaq's foot, Bradley's shoulder, Jeff's heart, KG's knee, Rondo's elbow,Ray's feet, JO's knees.Rasheed's head, Isaiah's hip, Hayward's broken ankle, Kyrie's screws....I mean these are vital players that had they been all healthy in those season's that they got hurt..we easily could be looking at banner 20.

My biggest miscalculation:

I underestimated that any team can beat us on any given night especially if we’re not playing hard, or our shots are not falling, or the other team is playing lights out.

We'd be working on banner 22 right now if KG and Perk's knees didn't go down in 2009 and 2010, the O'Neal twin towers didn't fall apart in 2011, and Wilcox/Green didn't get season-ending surgeries in 2012.

Pretty much everyone on the forum except a few posters were wrong about Hayward. Just go back and read the threads. Many were predicting 20ppg/All-Star/All-NBA type season. Even the Vegas over/under line on him to start the season was 18ppg. That's a personal bet of mine that is going to pay off big time in several months.
