It was not the last second three pointer but a drive down the lane to a euro step floater and maybe off wrong foot-whatever it was, it was impressive
Those deep threes really things of beauty nothing but net-
Brown and Tatum why bother looking elsewhere

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about what they can do as a tandem for the Celtics for a long time, hopefully.

It's really the best move for all parties involved. Hope they're both here to stay.

The Celtics teams of the 80's were built around Bird but Mc'Hale acted as the pressure release valve. They were both tall, coordinated, well rounded scorers but they had enough variance between their games and personalities to compliment each other throughout their careers.

We're seeing something similar with Jaylen and Jayson. Nobody questions that Jayson is the more polished scorer but Jaylen brings his own 'it' factor that can allow him to perform in situations that Jayson might not be as well suited for.

Jaylen wants to be one of the faces of the league and will seek out chances to prove himself. Jayson seems like he's already arrived through the same dedication and love for the game that he's had since he was a kid. It's like Jayson stays at a solid 8 to 9 where Jaylen can range from something like 7 to 10.  IMO it's a potentially great dichotomy to build your team around.
The issue we'll have is that financially, you're better off having one positively great player (e.g., Davis) than two very good to great players (ignoring the Tatum could be positively great someday).  If you look at our roster, we have five players (Horford, Hayward, Kyrie, Tatum, and Brown) that likely will command max money.  We have not have to worry about Horford long term but even four such guys is too rich for most teams.

May need to consolidate whether we like it or not.

Well. I guess there was a reason why Brown was picked #3 and Bradley slipped out of the lottery then? :P

If there is a silver lining in this year's crazy injuries, it's the fact that it has pushed Tatum, Brown and even Rozier to take much more of a leadership role. It's caused their development to shift into higher gear.

Both Brown and Tatum aren't wide-eyed kids any longer. Both are now over the hump heading towards being possible future stars. Both KNOW they can play at this level. both have defined games going to the rim and behind the 3 point line. Both are athletic, long and getting stronger every day.

With a little luck, this team has a chance to be very special next year.

I'm usually a positive fanboy, but I am genuinely surprised at Jaylen's game now. I was satisfied with the pick (although I think I wanted that Dunn/Butler deal). Jaylen might be better than Jimmy Butler, early days but he's projecting at least similar..

It's hard to come up with a player comparison. He's getting to the line far more often than I ever thought he would.

Yeah and now that he’s hitting his free throws it instills more confidence to attack hoop.

I still have hope we can be special this year by getting to finals although it will be tough.

The timing on player returns will be key. This even possibly includes Hayward, although many think it is ridiculous that he would even 'bother' with the playoffs at this point.

The 1st round is going to be tough with so many absences. No Theis at all this year is also a bummer, but at least Monroe came at just the right time.

Tie game, away game, clock running out, open shot at 17 feet for the game winner...and the kid steps back 7 feet to shoot the 3.  Swish.  An amazing shot.  I still cannot believe he took the step back 3 when any point would win it.

Rudy Gobert was near the top of the lane. A closer shot would have been contested.

I mean, I guess there was a silver lining to Hayward's injury (that enabled both Brown and Tatum- especially to blossom).

I wouldn't guess...

I very much doubt we would have won with everyone healthy this year..

But with year 2 Tatum and year 3 Jaylen, (and a healthy Kyrie, although I'm leaning trade on him).. we are going to be extremely difficult to beat next year. Unless James goes to Houston.

if there was a silver lining to all the injuries its that Jaylen/Jayson had to grow up quick and take up major scoring roles.

now with the injury to Kyrie, they have had to take another step and they are showing they are able to continue to win.

Now, next year if you take their growth (and offseason jumps) and add that Gordon Hayward with his 20ppg and a healthy Kyrie....we are going to be a REALLY tough team to beat. its why Ive been of the opinion next year is when we truly start hunting for banner 18. we essentially could be warriors of the east with multiple guys who can take over a game

Jaylen has been great.  I see his potential as a possible all-star SG.  That being said, would you give him up in a package for Kawhi Leonard?  But wouldn't we be really crowded at the inn for small forwards?  We'd have Hayward, Leonard, and Tatum.

Leonard is on the shelf a lot. I'd rather keep Brown as 80% of Leonard instead of giving up a king's ransom for him. But Horford does look like a SAS type of player, doesn't he?

Give me LaMarcus Aldridge for Al Horford. Spurs can do whatever they want with Kawhi Leonard lol.
