We should welcome the double teams, swing the ball to the open man.  That's one of the reasons for having "stars", that they command double teams and create opportunities for lesser players.

The problem is when our open guys are Smart, Rozier, Baynes, Theiss, etc. and the defense is very happy to have them take key shots.

But rarely are more than one of those on the court during end of game scenarios.  When Brown, Tatum and Horford are on the court with Irving we should have no problem getting a good shot.  That's 4 guys shooting better than 40% from 3.

Rozier is shooting almost 36% from 3, that is a decent percentage and I think Brad would be fine with Terry taking an open 3.

Kyrie's assist numbers should go up when doubled. Hopefully.

Clearly some people don’t know basketball.  Teams rarely, if ever, double perimeter players in the nba.  It’s almost impossible to do without getting burned over and over.

Except teams did it with Isaiah the 2nd half of last season and it led to a lot of struggles and tough small-margin losses.

Difference is, the C's have more scoring threats this year unlike last year, and they need to get them the ball more if Kyrie is contained, and give them the ball early in the shot clock too (otherwise it could be a wasted possession in a tough, close game).

Last night’s game shows there is a mandate for Tatum to play more aggressively on offense, because we are seeing more doubles on Kyrie.

I’m also concerned about Kyrie’s regression on defense, possibly happening because he is getting weighted by the offensive burden on his shoulders.

No one misses Gordon more than Kyrie.

Yeah, and the bench being bad on offense much of the season, although credit to them they've stepped up the past few games.

Well, they did it against a C's team that had a LOT worse shooting surrounding Thomas than this current team has around Kyrie.   And they did it a lot against lineups that had Smart at the 3 and basically ignored on the perimeter, freeing up a defender to help on Thomas.    All they had to do typically was play Al, Jae & Avery straight up and cheat Smart's defender onto Thomas to accomplish the double.   Despite that, overall for the season, doubling Thomas only paid off once in a while.  If his teammates made shots, it didn't pay off.

The problem we have right now isn't shooters -- we have some really good shooters, especially in the starting & closing lineups.  The problem is we aren't really doing a very good job of passing the ball with purpose and creating shots for more of our shooters.   Last year, we were 2nd in the NBA in assists per 100 possessions.   This year we are 13th.   We've also had corresponding drops in rank for our team scoring efficiency.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

I've watched opponents help defense, sagging and drifting to Irving by defenders late in games....can you blame them?

Last night in the final minutes, Smart was not on the court.

Irving
Horford
Rozier
Tatum
Baynes...(?)

My guess is Rozier has been hitting some shots lately and the Celtics were up 8-10 points.

Irving + Smart backcourt early in the year had Kyrie off the ball a lot. Last night Smart was off the court.

Smart was on the floor for all of the final 7:45 of last nights game.

Yep, it was Ky, Shane, Smaht, JT and Horford the last 5 mins or so because Ky subbed Roze.
