The title question could actually be remarkably similar to this one -
Why are so many members emotional (in my eyes) about us giving
the Nets pick in return for the league wide regarded star player - Kyrie Irving?
The date from the title is the day when there were the most people ever on CB: 4256 (per CelticsBlog

), it is also the day after we lost to the Brooklyn Nets, during our single non-playoff year in the last decade. Maybe it was a coincidence.
https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201403210BRK.htmlYeah, -16 (Gamescore/Fahrenheit/Celsius) doesn't really warm up the heart of the fan when we own their draft rights that summer. That pick became James Young, the 17th pick.
Since then we had two more opportunities to hit on those picks and we definitely struck gold. We got close to the best possible outcomes there - 3rd (2016) and 1st (2017) pick. Not even the most optimistic fans (me included) were expecting them to be that high, (we all hoped, but we wouldn't put our hand in the fire, to back it up at the time.)
In our (rebuild) five-year outsourced tanking era, only the 2018 pick remained to be consumed. Will it be the 1st pick again? top 3, top 5, or "just" (eyes naturally got bigger through the years) 8th? That has been our M.O. for the years passed, I understand the reflex, I had it too. But the Nets picks aren't the only light at the end of the tunnel anymore. As they surely were back then on March 22nd, 2014!
*Look at that roster.
Since then we made some pretty good trades, made some solid high picks, and we even signed 2 max guys (something we supposedly couldn't do but looks like we did it after all.) And finally, as we entered the top 5 teams (contenders), we traded the last Nets pick for a star.
We can let it go now.
We are out of the woods.
Oh, and BTW, we still have some of that good Brooklyn spirit, reincarnated in the upcoming LAKings pick.
And if anyone can explain the title of this thread, please do.
