I didn't know the Cavs doctors thought IT may miss entire season. Was that Tweet on this board?
Also what would a record prediction be for a lineup of

Rose
Smith
Lebron
Love
Thompson

Bench
Crowder
Green
Jefferson
Shumpert
Frye?
Calderon?
Hmm ... 46-48 wins.

assuming James plays 75ish games that is probably a 50 win team.  Should still be a top 4 team in the East in the regular season.  Would hate them to be the 4 seed to our 1 seed though.  Not a 2nd round matchup I'd want to see, especially if Thomas is basically healthy by then.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

These are two most likely, but perhaps Cavs make another move?
great idea. what do you think they would give the celtics for irving?

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I wonder  - if they didn't have LeBUM would they be a lottery team?

It would be close, but probably. I think they'd be a high lottery team even with Kyrie, though. He and Love haven't looked great together when Lebron has sat.

It would be close to a lottery team starting Derrick Rose and remain a lottery team with Kyrie, as well?

I know the Kyrie you once thought you knew didn't turn out as you hoped (ie - he broke your heart), but there he should be worth at least a couple more wins than Rose.

That 4-23 record in Games Lebron doesn't play is pretty worrisome.

That stat is very disingenuous when talking about Kyrie since Kyrie also sat in 10 of those 23 losses.  Kyrie's record in games without Lebron is 4-13, not 4-23.  I can't verify that Love actually played in all those 17 games either, but I'd guess he's missed some since he missed 22 this season alone.  4-13 is still bad, but you don't need to twist the facts.  Liam already mentioned the lack of any non-Lebron offense the team had in place.

At age 21, Kyrie led the Cavs to a 33-49 record w/o Lebron.  Now that ain't much to brag about at a glance either, but his best teammates that season were (in terms of min per game) Luol Deng (for 40 games), a 22 year old Tristan Thompson, Spencer Hawes, and Dion Waiters.  That putrid team somehow finished better than 8 other teams in the league which Derrick Rose absolutely could not do right now.  So I give Kyrie a little more credit than you are right now.
That year the Cavs were 5-6 when Irving was on the bench and thus were a worse 28-43 with Irving.

I get your larger point and there is obviously something to the Cavs being designed to play to James' strength and not that of Irving, but you really can't find evidence from Irving's past that would let you feel comfortable about his ability to truly lead a winning team.  Good thing Boston has Hayward and Horford.

We didn't know it about IT4 either and he was around Kyrie's age now during that time, I'm glad he was given a chance to show that he could grow and CBS didn't tie him to what he did as a very young man.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

It is an interesting thought to pull the trade in reverse. I wouldn't be that interested in Zizic, Crowder, or IT.

I'd trade Kyrie for BKN 18 and another useful piece, like Love. Not sure if he would go well with Horford, but you could also trade one of them with some picksor something useful.

Kyrie= BKN 18 pick and Love

Love or Horford + BKN 18 + (other stuff)= Anthony Davis (?)

Would you go all in on a core of Davis and Hayward and build around it?

Regarding the Cavs PG situation- IT and Derrick Rose will man Kyrie in the playoffs when we meet. Kyrie should be able to do work. We will then be able to get an accurate read on his defensive ability in a Brad Stevens system.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Lebron has been 69, 76 and 74 in his 3 years in Cleveland. So perhaps 75 is an optimistic guess if he doesn't suffer any injuries. The stretched out schedule should theoretically help him a little.

However, if IT misses the whole season it seems hard to imagine them not having a 5 loss drop from last year in the regular season. I guess there only way of not having a significant drop off would be Rose having a very strong and injury free year. Given that Rose hasn't played more than 66 games since 2010-2011 that seems pretty unlikely. If IT is out and Rose misses his usual time they could quickly become a very average team starting Calderon, Smith, Lebron, Thompson and Love.

It will be fascinating if they are hovering around the 4 and 5 seed towards the end of the year if there is some gamesmenship by teams to avoid playing them in the first round.

I think you're misreading the tweet.  He's not saying that that's what Cavs doctors actually said.
